Description for Hummer H1 1992

Finally back home in the US. "Aretha" is looking for a new home. She is called Aretha because she is big. black and demands R-E-S-P-E-C-T. I have just brought home my "other woman" after being stationed overseas for 15 years. It is time for somebody with more energy than I can give her to take her on. Aretha is a 1992 Limited Edition Hummer. the very first year offered to the civilian market while the company was still AM General and before they were called a H1. I bought her from a shiehk while stationed in Bahrain in 1992. At the time she had 32. 00 miles on her after ten years. It had lived mostly in an air conditioned shop and was brought out for falconing in Saudi. At the end of my tour in Bahrain I pulled a fast one on the Navy and drove 4K miles back to my regular duty station in the United Kingdom. We drove across Saudi Arabia. Jordan. Syria. Turkey. Greece. Italy. France and the UK. This expedition was called Hummin2London. Aretha's trim at the time was gorgeous. Once back to the UK I started competing with it in off road challenges such as the Highland Military Challenge in Scotland where we took second place (there was no way they were going to let a Yank Tank beat out all the Land Rovers!). That was fun but the UK is not the place to really use a big. wide stonking off road truck. That. and I hate mud. I entered the Taureg Rallye in Morocco and spent a year converting Aretha into a full on desert racer. She has now competed in two rallye races in Morocco and has shown herself well. In fact. she still has some orange sand in the back from Erg Chebbi. She has driven all over Europe as well. She is not a stock truck. It has been taken down to the frame and rebuilt all the way up. This is not a truck for the shy. faint of heart or someone who does not know their way around a set of wrenches. Like all beautiful women. she needs to be paid attention to or she will make you pay for it ;-)Aretha has: NO ENGINE COMPUTERS!2" roll cage (not approved by any racing body but copied FIA rules) Four race seats (two are in it now but the rear to can just be bolted in)Custom doors installed. 4 stock half doors included w/four custom metal/glass door tops. Momo steering wheel with quick disconnect. has two thumb buttoms for instant on wiper and fire truck horn (LOUD!)3. 5 inch body lift. PCI race intercom. Includes jack for listening to ipod/phone music as you drive. Intercom cuts out automatically when you talk. Custom dash. center console. switches. Explona rally race computer: gps based time/speed/distance calculations. Has displays for navigator and driver. This is THE BEST!HID headlights (no high beams. see next line)6 KC Daylighters in front2 work lights to rear. 32 gal race fuel cell. 6 Dick Cepek FCII tires on custom modified H2 aluminum rims. 6 Baja TA radial race tires (five mounted on same type custom H2 rims); NOT street legal. race only!6. 2L GM V8 diesel with; Whipple supercharger. 50 State emissions legal. Approx 15 psi boost. Upgraded to single serpentine belt drive for Whipple. alternator. PS. and water pump. Water injection. Custom 4L80 GM transmission with Art Carr gated shifter. Transmission STAYS in the gear you put it in. It must be manually shifted through the gears. Custom polyurethane captured engine mounts and poly transmission mount. Engine CANNOT break motor mount. Poly Arm bushings. Rod Hall FRONT racing springs on all four corners. Rod Hall billet ball joints; (made for Navy SEAL trucks. you can't break them!)Centered front differential. Instead of 3 different half shaft sizes. you only need one! NO extra road vibration. Drilled and slotted brake rotors. Detroit Locker in rear diff. I have an Auburn electric locker for the front that I will send with. Never got a chance to install it. 6 Brad Falin custom remote reservoir racing shocks. 2 Light Force hydraulic bump stops on front A arms. Batteries relocated to rear. It comes with wet cell batteries but I will throw in the Optima battery holders. Rubber Duck 4x4 Hood lift gas strut (worth its weight in platinum)Military ballistic upper grill (no rocks going through that. that is for sure!)I will throw in stacks of paper work and construction notes as well as any and all spares I have on hand. Current Texas inspection. plates and title. Known issues:The original race engine blew a main bearing just before I was to come back to the states. I took a very low milage (approx 32K miles) 6. 2L out of my 3/4 Ton 4x4 Suburban there and swapped them out the weekend before I was to leave. Runs great. Once I got back to the states she was put into a container and shipped to me. There is a small oil leak somewhere that I can't seem to find as I don't have a shop anymore to work in. There is some general tidying up to do as well. Hand brake lever is still zip tied up out of the way for the engine swap. Soft top is old but works. If you want to race her here. you will need a new certified cage and new race belts. but you would know that. Both are fine for playing. Number one problem. EVERYBODY wants to talk to you! You can't be shy. Pics are from various stages of her life:expeditions. races. etc. That ones by the park in the two door version are current Texas pics. All the other pics are Morocco. the Middle East or Scotland. Just to be extra clear: THIS IS NOT A HUMVEE. It was never a 24v military vehicle. ever. not once. not even in the cadets. I have a letter from AM General stating it was built as a civvy machine. It has all the appropriate US DoT stickers in the door. etc. and has recently been passed by US Customs and the EPA. Title is ABSOLUTELY clear.
