Description for International Harvester Other 1968
A 1968 International Travelall, ehind the barn find. Found this Travelall while looking at another vehicle. It had been setting and not driven since 1993, hen the original owner passed away. I hauled it back to my shop with the intention of just making a driver for now and then restoring it. It had not been licensed since 1993 and so was out the license system in Washington State. I re-registered it and bought new plates and license tabs for 2015 and they go with it. If you live in Washington State that will be handy. If not at least the Title and Registration is Clear and in my name.
I cleaned up the motor and replaced all the ignition parts and bought a NOS carburetor too. The oil was clean, ut I changed the oil and filter as a matter of course. I installed a new battery, attery cables, nd ignition switch and it fired right up. It idles and runs smoothly and has 60 pounds of oil pressure at start up and about 50 psi at idle warmed up. I also replaced all the heater hoses and clamps, ransmission cooler hoses, the heater control valve and thermostat. Also I have the original windshield washer bottle and it works.
The fan belts are all new also and I am installing a new voltage regulator tomorrow. I replaced all the brake lines and brake hoses, nstalled new wheel bearings and seals, ew brake wheel cylinders, aster cylinder, e-lined the brake shoes front and rear, eplaced all the brake hardware, ebuilt power steering pump and new high pressure and return lines. The battery is a new 60 month group 24. Cooling system has been flushed and correct antifreeze/coolant installed.
The parking brake and cables have been restored and work fine. The transmission is the original hydromantic and shifts wellforward andreverse. The stock air cleaner has been disassembled, estored and filled with 30wt.The stock wheels were rusted away and so I bought new 15"x7" steelies, ew 225x65 R15 Radial tires, nd new stainless hub caps and trim rings.
I have the door panels which are good for patterns, he rocker trim cover panels and the rear tailgate cover. The glass is good all the way around, owever a kindly juvenile delinquent shot the windshield with a BB gun, nd so it has a little chip that can be fixed. The seats are stock. Overall this is a great restoration candidate or you can justdrive it as a Rat Rod. There is rust as shown in the pictures but repairable too except for right front fender which should be replaced.
The rear tail gate does not have the glass, ut that can be found on eBay as most parts for it can. The left gas tank needs to be restored, ut it is included. I bought new tank flanges for both sides. I have had the right tank cleaned and installed a new sending unit. The tank switch valve has been restored and it is included too. I have the stock stainless hub caps and they go with it too. I have all the side trim and it is included. Also have the original jack included.
The lease is up on my shop next week and I need to have everything sold and gone in the next three weeks. Therefore with nowhere to store my stuff, verything will be for sale. I'm getting kind of tired anyway. I have spent wellover $2,500.00 on the Travelall over the past month not counting what I paid for it, o that is the starting point for the bidding and there is NO RESERVE.
Just an added note: It is at its stock ride height. These cars have torsion bar front suspension that can be adjusted to lower the front end and the rear are super easy to lower too. They look really cool lowered too!
