Description for International Harvester Other 1955

Up for auction is this 55 International half ton truck. I’ll start off by saying this truck needs ZERO rust repair. If it does. I haven’t seen the spot yet. I’ve pulled the seat bottom out of it and the entire floor is solid with inspection plates in place. I would scuff the floor up to clean off the peeled paint and surface rust (very minor) and paint it. The cab is very solid as well. These trucks almost always need new cab corners. This one does not. The running boards are in excellent shape (very rare). The driver’s side of the cab right below the wind shield and above the top door hinge is pushed in a little. Every International pickup I have had is like this due to IH not putting a “stop” in the door hinge. The door opens too wide and pushes that spot in. This is a minor issue as the door shuts well and the gaps are very even. The driver’s side of the hood has a small “bend” in it next to the release handle. It is really hard to see when the hood is closed but easier when open. I think the weight and the angle of the hood makes it flex a little when open. Very minor. There is also a small ding above the passenger’s side headlight. Front bumper is straight. No optional rear bumper. I don’t think there has ever been anything significant loaded in the bed of this truck as the bed sides and floor don’t have any dents in them. The green truck I just sold was definitely well used as the bed was a mess. This is the opposite for sure. The rear glass is good and is one pane. The truck is missing the water pump (really the only part I think the truck is missing). The man I got the truck from said he was told the water pump was bad so it had been taken off (The original fan. shroud. and bumper jack are in the bed). I put a battery on the truck. had a key made for the ignition. turned it on and hit the button. It turned over on its own. I didn’t try to start it as I did not put gas to the carb and it probably needs new ignition parts. I would start with Distributor cap. points. condenser. plug wires and maybe a coil. I would clean the fuel system from the carb to the fuel tank beforehand as well. It had oil in it when I got it and didn't appear to be contaminated water. The dash is complete. I'm not sure of what works and what doesn't but it is all there. Although. I had a key made for the ignition and it worked without a problem. It also has the optional heater. Brakes are not working. I haven’t looked at them. but with the condition of the rest of the truck. I imagine the master cylinder and wheel cylinders are dry. The truck rolls and steers like it should so I imagine the brakes will be fine with a little work. Being one owner with only 24. 00 miles. the optional heater. unused original spare. no dents in the bed or bed sides. and all four of the original hub caps (un dented!). I don’t think this was really used as a truck. The man I bought it from was from a small town in Nebraska who took over the estate of a man who passed. I have the original title from the original owner who bought the truck in that area. Not sure when it was parked. but I don’t think it has seen any salty. winter roads or any towns too far from where it was sold new. The paint is baked to perfection and exactly the way so many people are wanting their trucks to look right now. Of course it would look great all shiny too. I really think it is fabulous starting point. Body parts are hard to find for these as they are not being re-manufactured. The good thing is. it really doesn't need any. My dad decided to get rid of it as he as been looking for a Travelall and finally found one. We are going to restore that instead. I prefer the truck. but not my decision. Please call me if you have any questions about the truck. If I don't answer. leave a message and I'll call back. I work on a construction site and can't always answer. 720-325-3747.
