Description for International Harvester Scout 1967
1967 International Harvester Scout 800 “V” Model, Convertible, V8 w/ Manual Trans, California Rust Free, “Barn Find” Vintage SUV
Up for auction is this super rare and desirable 1967 International Scout 800 “V” Model. This “Barn Find” baby Scout was rescued from the California desert where it had sat for over a decade. Its perfect rust free and damage free body will make a great candidate for a nice restoration. The mileage only reads 6355 and cannot verify how many times it has rolled over.
If you've done your research than you know that these 800's “V” Models are truly the Scout to have especially when they have the sought after V8! This is the Scout that the early Bronco's wished we're never born! The 800's we're the true SUV that started it all and others tried to copy. The majority of these baby Scouts were the 4 cylinder models and although they we're great off-road vehicles, they were severely underpowered and tough to drive on today's modern roads and highways. The coveted “V” model is the one to have! Not only is it the most desirable year and best looking model, but has the big V8 power to back up the reputation!
This Baby Scout is very complete. It has the V8 backed by a manual trans. There is no info on the non-running motor but was told that it will run on a gas can but haven’t tried yet. Take a look at how straight and solid the side panels, rocker, fender lips and floors are! Not one sign of beginning cancer. I have owned and restored many of these in the past and the floors and normal trouble areas in this Scout are the best that I have ever seen! The only visible damage on the whole Scout is the driver’s side rear quarter panel….it has been bruised and popped out a bit but not bad at all and not cracked or creased. The top comes off easily and makes into a sweet convertible and looks way better than a classic Bronco because there are no silly door frames that get in the way of the smooth lines of this true convertible! The interior is complete but obviously in need of restoring but try and find a back seat for these….you cant. They are impossible to find and when you do they are a small fortune (unrestored). This is a great find and the more I see it, the more I want to do the project myself but have too many atm and need to fund other restorations.
Hagerty Insurance recently said this about International Scouts: “International Scout SUVs are up by 85 percent" and that "vintage SUVs are going to be the next big trend in car collecting. “Hagerty Observes Significant Shift in Allure of Vintage Sport Utility Vehicles”
Hagerty also values this particular restored model at over 30K and that’s not surprising considering that the more common 4-cylinder versions of this model is currently pulling consistent low 20’s in price in the market today.
With new paint, rebuilt driveline, new interior & wheels /tires….this is a $30K Scout all day long! Don’t let this opportunity pass by of owning a great investment and not to mention a solid restoration project! The Scout is being sold on a bill of sale only due to the original owner passing away but I’m in the process of obtaining a new title for it. It’s a 10 week process with DMV but the sale will come with the title as soon as I receive it.
Thanks for the interest and happy bidding!
