Description for International Harvester Other 1940
I couldn't bear to see this truck scrapped, so I bought it out of a field, cleaned it up, and am hoping someone will take over the process of restoring it. I do not have a title, but I do have a notorized bill of sale. Here are the things I have done to "clean it up":*rebuilt the starter*rebuilt the generator*cleaned and repaired the gas tank*cleaned, flushed, and repaired the radiator*redid the flatbed with new 2x6 t&g pine*put on new front tires*had the seat reupholstered*new window channels*new windshield gasket*new glove boxThe truck is complete, but definitely a project. There is very little rust, but there is evidence of hard use. The cab has some tears in the metal, and some dings and dents. The fenders have some welding scars, dents, and a little bondo. There are some welded peices on the running boards because the underneath supports were bent. The glass is all there, but there are bubbles in the windshield, and a small crack in the drivers door. The front windshield does crank open and close, the side windows roll up and down, and the doors open and close easily and properly.
I checked the motor and it is not frozen. The brakes need to be redone. It needs to be completely rewired, the carb rebuilt, and there is a wobble in the driveshaft. It does come with a few extra parts including the handcrank. I have a very low reserve to just cover my costs. I do have receipts for everything listed above.
I would continue on this truck, but I finally purchased a 55 GMC that I have been after for 8 years. I will be the second owner on it.
Again, I do not have a title, but I do have a notorized bill of sale.
