Description for International Harvester 1210 1971

this is a terribly hard decision, letting go of this pickup. I have a great deal of sentimental value invested in it. I've raised my daughter in it, done numerous camping trips, hauled my tool boxes for work, moved houses, road trips, on and on. I'm the 3rd responsible owner and I was very lucky to have gotten it from an old timer who bought it from his best friend after he passed away. both of these fellas took extremely good care of it, doing all their own maintenance so it's been smooth sailing for the last 14 years of ownership. the only reason for this sale is I've recently moved, bought an old gmc jimmy, and don't have a serious need for the truck. I have moved it to a covered storage shed until this sale is complete.
please study the pictures close, the truck is not cosmetically perfect and the paint job, although it looks pretty good in my opinion (done by previous owner) has a run or two. I'm telling you in all honesty the truck is solid, runs very good, and I have no doubt will serve it's next owner for many years to come. there's a manual choke I use on nearly every start unless it's peak summer. two barrel Holley carb just had a cleaning and and all the seals replaced. new master break cylinder. drum breaks all around work plenty good and are smooth. the motor itself is original and smokes a tiny bit from time to time only during a start. I was told it's a relatively easy fix but can't remember "exactly" what it is; I vaguely remember the word "lifter" with this issue. there is also an oil leak that I haven't addressed as well, more towards the firewall. the motor is rock solid though and purrs and runs out very well. transmission shifts buttery smooth and I had a regular service done to it close to 4 years ago - color of fluid is pristine. just replaced the stock exhaust from the manifold back about a year ago. put a new audio deck in that works very good with a smart phone and the two speakers that where put in from the previous owner have always worked very well. replaced the stereo antenna a couple years ago. I'm going to emphasis this truck is unmolested and well preserved. I've done religious oil changes. the radiator is stock and I recently had it removed, flushed/serviced, repainted in that high heat protective paint and pressure tested. valve cover gaskets are 3 years old. the truck drives very well and would hop in it this afternoon and drive it from Oregon to Maine without hesitation. I put new tires on it 3 years ago and they have 85% or better tread left. I only take the truck out 2 times a month just to give it a jog. the seats are not stock as you can see from the pictures. the old timer I bought it from was crafty and built a two stage makita sawzall storage box in the middle of the seats. he was telling me it was his little dog's seat and he'd chain him up to the leash that's bolted to the back of the cab. little touches he did for him and his wife for comfort as they used the truck primarily for hauling their camper and vacationing. they lived in pasco, Washington so that's where the truck lived all it's life till it came back with me to the Willamette valley. I have always kept it stored in a garage or covered area since I've had it. some other things he did to the pickup: gutted the inside of the cab and recarpeted and insulated it, he said he put a huge amount or radio antenna for a cb inside the headliner but I've never messed with installing one, he laid down diamond plate in the bed and rhino lined it (I've always kept the bed really clean), theres a trailer assist thing he installed but I've never hauled anything with a hitch since I've owned it so I have no idea if it works, a windshield wiper delay, and he put a sliding back window in. also, keep in mind I have a lot of original parts that I'd include in the sale if the new owner is interested: solid glass back window with seal, additional front hood (same color) stock air conditioning unit that was an option during the original sale (I removed it for leg room purposes, as well as the compressor that ran it but I still have it) and he passed along the enormous service manual for the truck too, which is pretty rare and cool in itself. the air horn on the roof used to work but the tiny tank that he used for it never held pressure so I removed it and planned on putting another one in but never got around to it so that's where that lies (no horn). feel free to call and ask any questions, winner is responsible for the shipping or pick up but I'll help out in whatever is needed.
my reserve is higher than what many would expect due to what the truck is worth to me personally. I also feel the truck is so well maintained and mechanically sound it should command a higher dollar than one that's been sitting out in a field and put to the test most it's life. I will not cheap sell this truck for any reason, if I don't get what I feel it's worth I'll simply keep a hold on it. I do hope is it goes to someone who's gonna take good care of it, which is exactly what I promised the old timer I'd do for him when I bought it. the bidding will more than likely not get to the reserve I have set for this reason alone, but if I am comfortable with the amount it does get to, I will offer the sale to the last highest bidder. thanks for your time in reading this and good luck to you.
PLEASE NOTE: I have no idea what's involved in shipping a vehicle internationally, therefore I am restricting the sale to the United States, possibly Canada only. thanks.
