Description for International Harvester 200 1974
For the discriminating 3 quarter ton classic truck buyer who wants something different than a F-250 or C-20, here is a 1974 International 200 ¾-ton 4x4 Pickup. This truck is rarely optioned for an International pickup truck, its loaded with the largest motor available,a 392 V8, NP 205 25P two speed 4x4 transfer case, specialorder Dana 60 4.10 rear axle, Torque-flight automatic transmission, additionaloil cooler, power front disc brakes, power steering, heavy duty front and rearshocks/suspension, custom interior trim package, dual fuel tanks, dual exhaust, rear step up bumper, rear trailer hitch with wiring, front chrome bumper, kingsize exterior mirrors, optional AM radio, electric dash clock, day/night mirrorand the Bonus Load bed!
Made in August 1973 at International’s Springfield, Ohio factory, then delivered to a corporation in Spokane Washington, this Light Line pickup features a 4x4 standard cab with an eight-foot “Bonus Load†long bed, a rare combination. From 1907 to 1975, International had been a large factor in the light truck market, holding third place until the 1970's, but that was over in April of 1975. The 150/200/500 series pickups were all dropped, along withTravelall and Travelette.
The 1974 International Harvester 200(chassis 4Q2C0DHB12660), 80K original miles, is from the penultimate year of the company’s long-running pick-up line, and is a good running and driving classic. It has the desirable factory 392with 4 barrel carb, 4×4, powersteering and front disc brakes options. The IH has the “Bonus Load Bed†whichis the 8’ bed, along with the TF727 automatic 3-speed transmission, NP205transfer case, Dana 40 front axle and Dana 60 rear axle, no A/C on this old truck. The motor starts and runs very well, no leaks, weird noises and nothing needed. Truck drives great and could be a nice daily (in the correct climate),parade truck or nice weekend truck. For those that are curious, 60-65 is about all that is comfortable for the truck on interstates or freeways, it will obviously do more but does not like the RPM’s that high for long. During myownership, I have done acomplete tune-up, checked the brake system, new shocks, but mainly just driven it on nice days to and from work. It is definitely reliable enoughto get out and away from home, everything works as it should, all lights(hi/low beam), blinkers, gages, wipers, even the original AM radio and speakerstill work. The two things I have not fixed yet are the gage backlight and the fuel tank switch, they may or may notbe repaired when the auction closes. I believe the truck was restored probably 15-20 years ago and while not a show truck, it shows well and you will not be afraid to drive and enjoy it. There is minimal rust on the truck, the bed being the worst part, doors, rockers and other problem areas are not rusty, it has definitely been kept inside over the years.
Sale includes the original line setting ticket, origin owner’s manual, original customer’s guarantee policy, original maintenance booklet and all paperwork that originally came with truck. You will not be ableto go eat or fill up without people looking and asking about it, you just do not see these old IH’s around very much. This one is definitely needs to bedriven and enjoyed……I also want to apologize to the people who tried to contact me the last time the truck was listed, we made a mistake on the email and we received nothing until the listing was already taken down. I will be checking and replying daily this time around. If you email me, I will be happy to give you my cell number and will be happy to answer any and all questions.
