Description for Isuzu 117 1979
Car was imported in 2013 by JDM Legends of Salt Lake City, and currently only has 70K km (43k miles). Have all service records since the import. All in all, this is a unmolested high quality driver and was displayed in a Japanese sports car class at the 2015 Concours d'Elegance of America at St Johns.
The Isuzu 117 was designed by Italian design house, Giugiaro and utilizes the G180W 1.8L with a 5 speed manual. The 117 was among the first Japanese cars to have both DOHC and fuel injection (Isuzu used a licensed version of the Bosch L-Jet).All trim is intact and in excellent condition and has all original glass (with some cool Japanese inspection stickers).Appears to have had one high quality re-paint, with no notable rust issues other than a bubble on the rear deck (please refer to pictures). All 5 factory wheels were refinished and new tires fitted before the 2015 concours appearance (<1000 miles currently on them).Seats, door panels, and headliner, are excellent, the dash top pad has three cracks (see pictures).Seat foam is still very supportive and the upholstery is excellent. Radio and gauges work and the original tool kit is included.
Drives very well - runs up and down through the gears, suspension, steeringand brakes are all tight. Compression test shows cylinder pressure between 165 and 175 PSI in all cylinders. Has been fitted with a performance exhaust system and has also been upgraded to modern electronic ignition.Car is equipped with factory A/C, which is intact but would need a compressor / service to operate.Other service items since the import include, fuel pump, tank service and lines, and new injectors.
The car is overall is great shape and represents a good value at the very reasonable reserve price (the car was originally sold by JDM Legends for $11,500, and my reserve is significantly below this price).Remember the car is now 40 years old so please review the pictures carefully and feel free to contact me with any questions.
