I am listing this for my friend who has been working on Jaguars and building engines since 1967. This car was built to go fast, stick to the track and stop the bestit can... she red lines at 7000 RPM and stays together. This Was Not Built To Be A Pebble Beach Show Car. The factorybody is all metal, but not perfect. Older paint, some poor shut lines, a loose grill, a couple little rust spots, a few little dings, dents, etc..
As mentioned, she was built in the late 1970's. Purchased, raced and continually improved by the current owner since 1984. Last on the track in 2000 with a fresh 3.8 liter engine, only 10 laps (15 miles) of break-in time.
The engine is balanced, nitrided crankshaft, with forged aluminum Venolia pistons (+.20)fitted witha early E-Type headthat has custom made aluminum bronze valve guides, breathing through three 2" SU carburetors at 11:1 compression. A lightened steel flywheel, Schiefer aluminum competition clutch is mated to a close ratio Moss gearbox. With a limited slip, power lock rear differential.
The suspension is extremely stiff and well tuned. Rack and pinion steering,Delrin bushings, front and rear sway bars with an adjustable rearpanhard rod and Bilstein shocks at all four corners. Disk brakes front and rear with separate master cylinders and a adjustable bias bar. Goodyear Eagle tires on 15" aluminum Revolution wheels. She has electronic ignition, oil cooler, electric fan, a 15 gallon fuel cell that is steel caged, with a regulation SCCA roll cage from that period.
There are some spares included in the sale: Two sets of Revolution wheels, one withn.o.s. rain tires mounted, another rear differential with 3:77 gears, along with some small misc. items.
