It has only had two owners from new and has traveled a mere 39,076 miles since new. This is the true classic British enthusiast’s car, as rare as a 4., but this “Unicorn” comes with the legendary 272 hp 5.3L V12! Enzo Ferrari called the XK-E “The most beautiful car ever made.” It has resided with the same Florida owner since 2001 and was well taken care of.
This Regency Red beauty with its lustrous paint features a tan Connolly Leather interior with a new Wilton Carpet set and a matching tan top. Front and rear bumpers and guards are in great shape. All lenses are clear and free of cracks. Wraparound windshield is clear and crack-free. Manual Hartz tan cloth top folds and unfolds easily. Rear window is plastic and still transparent. Car is equipped with a three-speed automatic transmission and power steering plus four-wheel disc brakes. Carburetors have been rebuilt with new diaphragms and the engine bay is clean. The fuel filler door on the left rear fender opens easily, exposing a bright silver filler cap. Car rides on chrome wire wheels inside of Goodyear Eagle GA tires with good tread.
Inside, the tan Connolly Leather bucket seats are supple and the Wilton Carpet on the floorboard is in great shape. Car comes equipped with air-conditioning and there is a wooden Nardi Touring steering wheel to grip. All of the gauges work, except for the dashboard analog clock. There is an ashtray in the center console and aft of that is a cubby for coins and sunglasses. Car comes with a Nakamichi AM/FM stereo with CD player. Glove box door works as designed. Interior doorskins are in great shape, doors close with solidity and driver’s sideview mirror moves via door-mounted remote.
The Jaguar E-Type, or the Jaguar XK-E for the North American market, is a British sports car, which was manufactured by Jaguar Cars Ltd., between 1961 and 1975. Its combination of beauty, high performance and competitive pricing established the marque as an icon of 1960s motoring. The E-Type Series 3 was introduced in 1971, with a new 5.3-liter 12-cylinder Jaguar engine, which was originally developed for the grueling 24 Hours of Le Mans race. The Series III is easily identifiable by the large cross-slatted front grille, flared wheel arches, wider tires, four exhaust tips and a badge on the rear that proclaims a V-12 lives under the bonnet (hood).
Cars for the U.S. market were fitted with rubber bumper over-riders (in 1973 these were on front, in 1974 both front and rear) to meet local 5 mph (8 km/h) impact regulations, but those on European models were considerably smaller. U.S. models also have side indicator repeats on the front wings.
Examples of this Jaguar’s competition back then included the Cadillac Eldorado, Mercedes-Benz 450 SL convertibles and Porsche 356 Cabriolets.
Probably one of the most recognizable roadster ever produced, the E-type is the ideal combination of style, function and performance…and with the endorsement of Enzo Ferrari? What are you waiting for? GET OUT AND DRIVE!!!
