Description for Jaguar Other 1962
I am selling a 1962 Jaguar MK 2 with 3.4 liter engine. The body is rough. The engine runs well. I have replaced oil pan gaskets and seals, water pump seal, valve cover seals. The 4 speed transmission works well. It has new clutch, pilot bearing, and pressure plate. The flywheel was turned. The starter is only 3 years old. There is a new clutch slave cylinder. The overdrive unit was rebuilt and has new solenoid. The brakes have all new lining pucks. All brake lines are new along with adding stainless steel braided hoses. The fuel line is new. Original fuel tank leaks so I purchased an ATL 12-gallon well cell to place in spare tire depression in boot. There is also an after market electric fuel pump. The carburetor is from a Buick V6 and is mated to a home-made intake. The original SU HD6 carbs come with car, but need to be rebuilt. I have original radiator and a Ford radiator that does well as the original radiator needs work. I have all new hoses for car. All wiring has been removed from engine compartment and will need interior wiring replaced. The rats, mice, and hillbillies took their toll on the wiring with bare wires and a small fire. The heater box was removed as the condition was so poor it disintegrated upon removal. Generator comes with car, I was going to replace it with Chevy alternator to make from 12 volt positive ground to 12 volt negative ground.
The interior has all original burl walnut trim pieces, original seats front and rear (fronts are bad shape and rear is perfect condition), original head liner. There is no center console or carpet. All gauges come with car, I believe that all will work when hooked up correctly.
The engine compartment was painted with POR-15 to stop rust from spreading. The drivers floorboard was replaced with sheet of steel (this is second replacement and there is not much steel remaining to weld to) and painted with POR-15 to prevent rust from spreading.
The rear leaf springs were taken to reputable shop and wereproperly re-arched and remounted to original factory specs.
The car still has all original wire spoke wheels. Has all exterior trim except 2 pieces (right rain rail and small length by hood ornament) and original fender mounted mirrors.
I was not going to restore this car, I was only going to get it mechanically sound and drive it as is. These cars are rare and look really cool.
Everything is there to get car running again except for new wire harness. The car was running when I removed engine/transmission to replace clutch. As I stated before, the body on car is rough shape and I don't think it is restorable, but it could make an interesting car to drive around.
I am selling due to relationship ending and do not have space to complete rebuild. There is small reserve, but it will be far from what cost of all new parts that were purchased for car.
List of new parts:
engine gasket sets, front and mid engine mounts, fuel cell, brake lines, flexible brake lines, fuel line, starter, engine hose kit.
