Description for Jaguar Other 1967
1967 Jaguar 420G NO RESERVE AUCTION
This is a complete example of Jaguar’s 420G luxury sedan, in need of restoration. This has been part of a private collection for quite some time and has been kept in dry storage for the past 5+ years. With only 5,763 ever made, the 420G came equipped with the larger 4.2L straight 6, sporting very desirable triple SU Carburetors. This is the same engine as the venerable E-Type. Currently the car is not running, but the engine turns by hand and appears to be in good shape including some newer parts such as radiator, radiator hoses, and intake tube.
This example was optioned with the 4 speed Automatic Overdrive transmission, and limited slip differential. The 420G was also the first Jaguar saloon car to have Independent Rear Suspension. You also get 4-wheel power disc brakes and a variable ratio steering box.
This Jaguar is European spec and right hand drive. The interior was upgraded over the previous Mark X with nicer leather and additional wood accenting. The 420G was the last Jaguar to have heavy use of wood trim as a standard feature, and the trim in this example is in good condition. All glass is present and in good shape, and all of the more complex hinges and mechanisms (such as the latches for the rear pop-out quarters, and rear picnic tables) are in working order. Overall the interior is in good shape, and extremely complete.
While the paint color on this Jaguar is beautiful, it is in poor condition, so it will need to be resprayed if you are looking for a perfect finish. The car could use a new seal kit as well as the existing ones are perished. The car does have some rust, but it appears to be isolated to the jack points and corners of the arches. The original wheels and beauty trims are all present and in good shape, including the spare wheel in the trunk.
