Description for Jaguar XJS 1994
Up for auction is my 1994 XJS with an LS1/4L60E swap. I love this car, and have had it just over a year, but just don't have the space or time to dedicate to it so I'm letting it go. Titled, inspected and registered in Texas. Relisting due to my last high bidder falling through.I will try to describe this car and be as up front on everything as I can be. The title is a rebuild due to an insurance declaration of it being "totaled." I have the entire accident claim report in a folder and it was a relatively minor front left impact. To the best of my knowledge there is noframe damage tothis car and the insurance report reflects that. I will include the full insurance report with the sale of the car. The totalled claim seems to be due to the astronomical parts costs they used for the fender, bumper cover etc. The driver wheel has a slight negative camber and the bumper is a tiny bit out of alignment but the car drives and looks perfectly fine.
Additionally, the pictures do the paint a bit more justice than in person. The paint has plenty of shine and luster, but it was clearly painted by an amateur and there is some orange peel and a bit of cracking on the repainted driver's fender. I have spent a great deal of time wet sanding and polishing to get the finish you see. I'd give it a 6 or 7 out of 10. The bottom of the front valence has taken a few scrapes. The XJ6 wheels are fine, though they do show their age a bit. As with most XJS's, the power steering rack leaks a bit (where the column meets the rack) and there is a pinhole leak in the radiator but it is VERY minor. The A/C clicks on, but the compressor sounds like it has marbles in it. It is noteworthy that the wiring etc. is all in place even with the engine swap so this shouldn't be a major repair. The windshield has a crack almost directly down the center vertically. And for some unknown reason, it has a trailer hitch.
Enough with the bad. Here's all the good! It now rocks a beautiful and smooth running LS1 in place of the inline 6. The engine came from a 1999 Trans Am with very low mileage (paperwork included). The 4L60E shifts nice and smooth and as you can see from the pictures the entire swap was extremely well done. It pulls hard but gives no outside appearance of what is under the hood. I have wiring diagrams, hand drawn schematics etc that come with the car. I have replaced the alternator, battery, water pump, heater control valve, front brake pads and guide pins along with the ABS accumulator and a full brake bleed/flush. All six Bilstein shocks are relatively new as well and all four tires are in excellent condition with almost full tread. It goes, turns and stops just like it should...even the ABS is fully functional. All four windows work perfectly, as do the power locks and remote keyless. The interior has aged very well with no major damage anywhere inside. The convertible top is virtually brand new with no wear. The power mechanism is disabled but the top goes up and down manually with no issues at all. All gauges except the tach work fine. The tach has power, it just needs the signal converted to work properly. It has a Pioneer head unit with Bluetooth and an Alpine multi-channel amp, wired up for a sub...plenty of punch to listen with the top down. This is a 100% rust free car as well.
This is a fun, eye catching and very entertaining car. It is not perfect, but you'd be hard pressed to find something elsethat is this unique and such a conversation starter when you pop the hood. Any questions just ask, I'm happy to take additional pictures etc.
