Description for Jaguar XJS 1985
Up for sale is my 1985 Jaguar XJ-SC Cabrio. This is a rare 6 cylinder car with a manual 5 speed box that was imported through the gray market. Because it's a gray market car, the Vin # is not pulling up on ebay. However the vin isSAJJNACC8CC123469 and I have a clear blue open title in the previous owners name.Paint work is mostly good, but there is some cracking in the back quarter which will need touching up. The interior is black leather. It has the glass back window and can be either a coupe the targa tops can be removed as well as the back windows to make a convertible.
It has the updated body kit from a later XJS with the 16" 5 spoke wheels and Euro headlights. The car is a real head turner.
I purchased this car from an estate sale last year as a project. It needed the gas tank cleaned out which the estate took care of. I reassembled, cleaned and rebuilt the injectors and replaced the fuel lines. The engine now runs very well. It appears to be a later 4.0 version of the AJ6 engine. It starts super fast and idles very smoothly.
The car still needs some tinkering as you would expect from a 35 year old car that had been sitting in an estate sale. The transmission shifts well through all gears but the linkage s sloppy and new bushings will be needed. It also has a knocking sound from the front shock which I assume is a perished shock mount. Mileage states that it has 35k on the clock but no idea if it's genuine. I do have some documents that came with the car, showing that the prior owner bought it on Ebay for $8,500 in 2010. He was a collector that had several of these cabriolet models. I have a clear blue title that's still in the previous owners name.
As this is a 35 year old car that has been in storage for some time. I would consider it as a project car and therefore it is being sold in 'as-is' condition with no warranty.
The car is located in Sherman Texas in my storage building. I am happy to answer any questions and would be happy to work with out of state and international buyers and any transport companies for pickup arrangements.
