Description for Jaguar E-Type 1962
Offered for sale, from KURT TANNER MOTORCARS, is this really lovely early E-type Coupe finished in it’s original colors. This car was purchased earlier this year from only the car’s second owner and has a known history from new. It was delivered new to the original owner on 1-26-1963 in Bronxville, New York to a Mr. Frederick Isenhower. He kept the car 37 years until 2000 when he sold it to Charles Wasser. During Fred’s ownership, he performed a very nice full cosmetic and minor mechanical restoration on the car to high standards, returning it to it’s original condition, with absolute authenticity and correctness in mind. Charles was very impressed by the car and the original owner’s almost obsessive attention to detail. He purchased it and enjoyed it up until the last few years when his health started to decline. The bodywork and paint on this car is excellent overall. It’s been a garage-kept car since new. The paint has slightly mellowed but is holding up very well and has a genuine feel to it, one almost thinking it’s the original paintwork. There’s a few small dings from garage storage and a minor couple chips/touch-ups, but overall its very nice. Chromework, rubber, and glass look beautiful as they were all restored/replaced/attended to during the car’s restoration and are in great shape overall. The car’s interior shares the same story here. It was carefully restored with correct materials during the restoration and shows extremely well. It’s nicely mellowed and has a gorgeous aged feel to it. The aluminum dash panels look very nice. Gauges and switchgear look crisp. The steering wheel has been beautifully restored.Mechanically, the car runs and drives well with a strong engine and gearbox. We have driven the car and have noticed it could use a brake service as there is very slight drag on some calipers that could free up with use. Maybe an exercising of the calipers would be the best cure… The previous owner noted that the car was starting to run warmer than usual so an aluminum replacement radiator was purchased but not yet installed. The original factory aluminum radiator is currently installed so it’s probably time to replace it. We’ll be posting a driving video of the car soon. The car’s engine compartment is superb, clean and detailed, and closely matches the resounding theme throughout the rest of the car.The car includes a host of original documents including the manufacturer’s warranty card, the maintenance voucher booklet, lubrication chart, “Passport to Service” booklet, Jaguar dealer booklet and pamphlet, photos of the restoration- all in the original burnt orange Jaguar vinyl pouch. The car still retains it’s full factory tool kit and roll, 5th spare chrome rim with matching tire, early style lifting jack/handle in bag, knock-off hammer.Overall, a lovely, early, no-stories E-type coupe with matching numbers, low mileage, and only two owners from new. This beautiful coupe in fantastic colors has been carefully restored once in it’s life and will certainly mellow and improve it’s genuine look and feel over time. Please look at all pictures / video and call or email with any questions. We will assist in shipping worldwide.
