Description for Jaguar E-Type 1968

Vehicle Details

Most collectible of the Series 1. Last year of this icon- as Enzo exclaimed the most beautiful car he’s ever seen when it made a splash at the 1961 Geneva Auto show. Most improved of the Series- no flat floor so you can actually fit your feet in there to shift the silky smooth manual. Improved Girling brakes, cooling system with two fans, electrical upgrades (Thank God) and US safety regs- example: the headlights moved forward so the middle of the road was lit- this necessitated the headlights not be covered.

Nothing beats the joy of this auto- the best British open two seater- great tranny and torquey engine- you can accelerate in fourth at 20 mph n no bucking or complaining.

This one I’ve had for two years. It was auctioned at Sotheby’s before I got it. I fell in love with the rare classy yet sporty ascot fawn color with its perfect black cloth top. Originally per Jag certificate it had black interior- the beige is much more appeasing. It has a remote restoration which still shows well. Body is great and the paint and finish I’d rank a 8.5/10. My goal since that was fine was to make it mechanically sound and run like new like an e-type should. I drive these.

At the Palm Beach Jaguar under its Heritage program- it then underwent mechanical restoration. New clutch plate and bearings in which the engine was pulled. While out- all new hoses bushing mounts gaskets etc. “while you’re at it things” include all new front suspension bushings etc. this was well over $20k. The new rear brake job. All fluids changed, tuned, alignment. Tires and spare are correct sizes and like new.

Ignition system great- pertronix ignitor, new alternator and VR. Clock works (redone w it’s own battery power) I have the original Lucas alternator- rebuilt and the orig Becker rebuilt and will be included. ( I currently have a retro radio in it- hey I like CD n Bluetooth what can I say)

Car starts n runs like new- really pulls and a blast! Not a trailer queen- meant to be enjoyed. I simply have too many cars at this time. I know I’m going to regret selling it. People go nuts over this car! Only going up in price. If you want a concours car you’ll pay $160-250; but it prob won’t drive as well as this one. Private collector doctor.
