Description for Jaguar E-Type 1969

This is a very early Series 2 built August 30th, 1968. Original color is Willow Green over Suede Green. Non-original motor/transmission: 4.2L 6cyl from a 1966 420G fitted with Triple SU carburetors. I bought the car in so-so condition and what attracted me to it was how solid it was and no rust out. There’s some light scale on the driver’s side floor pan, but no rust through holes. It’s about as solid as you can expect, and surprising for one of these. There was an aftermarket harness installed and a goofy rocker switch panel filled with Radio Shack multi-color light switches when I bought it. I decided to rewire the entire car and ordered a complete harness kit from SNG Barratt. Every wire is new along with new: Turn signal switch, Ignition Switch, Rocker switches, Alternator (Hitachi upgrade, internal regulated, but the new 4TR and 3AW are still there and can be returned to stock if the Lucas Alternator is put back on), headlights, front/rear marker/turn signal lights, reverse lights, heater fan, wiper washer bottle, most of the 6RA relays, switches, as well as new fuse panels. I also replaced the gas tank with a reproduction one and the fuel pump is an aftermarket unit which was there when I bought it. I also replaced the entire exhaust with a polished stainless system as well. I did add a mechanical brake light switch mounted by the brake pedal which is instant “Brake Lights ON” versus the old pressure style switch that’s prone to failure and finicky. Lastly, transmission fluid just flushed with Redline MT90 and a fresh oil change with Valvoline Racing 20/50 (heavy zinc) as well as installing a spin on oil filter adapter so no more messy canisters.
All exterior lights work: turn signals, back up lights, headlights and high beams, brake lights, parking lights, dash lights, horns, heater fan. Wipers do not. The top is older and mission the weather stripping around the windows. Glass is in good shape.

The car is a driver and is nowhere near perfect. An E-Type you can have fun with and not worry about a scratch or ding. It’s solid but it does have its fair share of dents and dings. Particularly in the left rear quarter there is a few dents that are noticeable. The car starts right up and drives nicely. I can provide a cold start video along with a driving video this week for anyone interested. The car has a clean title and is being held by my bank and will take about a week to get once I pay off the loan on the car.
Search for a running and driving E-Type and you’ll either find one that’s too nice to drive or a bucket of bolts you’ll have to do major work to before you even get it on the road. This is a happy medium in-between!
