Up for sale is a 1982 Jeep Scrambler. This a running original “Iron Duke” 2.5L 4 cylinder with a 4sp manual transmission. Front disk brakes and rear drum. Power steering. This car was a project started by my son and, I but after grandpa gave him a truck it was abandoned this summer

The good-

First and foremost a solid body and frame which isn’t easy to find. Bring a magnet because this isn’t a Bondo car with armor plating everywhere keeping things together. Regardless of what you plan to do with it you have a good base here.

The rear leaf springs and shocks were just replaced. I’m including the front leafs and shocks with the purchase.

The fuel tank, rollover valve, sending unit, fuel pump, and filter were all replaced.

It has a new alternator and battery. I have many new parts including: chrome antenna, stainless accessory kit for hood, new marine type black carpet, lift kit, rear light guards. Many miscellaneous parts replaced as we were fixing her up.

The Bad-

Needs to be painted. We never finished getting dents and imperfections out of the body so we used spray primer to protect the metal. The removable roof has a Rhino type spray on it which will need to be sanded/painted or completely covered with it.

The windshield frame has a rust hole. I have another windshield frame with a crack free windshield in it so that is an easy free swap.

It’s running, but could use a tune up, it doesn’t smoke. I have a set of plug wires we bought but didn’t install them yet. I know the carb will need an adjustment, but it will start and drive.

Not surprisingly it has an oil leak that we haven’t addressed yet. It’s not terrible, but you wouldn’t want to park it on a nice driveway.

Bad but also a good thing too- We had the Jeep brought to a professional welding shop to look for weak spots on the frame. Three spots were repaired and painted. The frame is solid now.
