Description for Jeep CJ 1982

1982 AMC Jeep CJ-8 Scrambler 4x4, power steering, power brakes, Air Conditioning, manual shift.
Recent frame off restoration of a 100% rust free Texas truck. No rust ever. No patch panels & no bondo. No cheap diamond plate rocker & quarter covers to hide damage either. This truck was done right. Super clean from top to bottom. I don't really know what more to say about the truck because the pictures do all the talking.
Mechanically sound & totally road worthy. My only complaint is that the starter makes a scratchy noise. I was told that it needs to be shimmed properly or just replaced. Not really a big deal. There is also a very hard to find belt pulleythat needs to be installed in order for the a/c to work. Aside from those minor issues the rest of the truck checks out excellent.

Update ... What I thought was an a/c compressor turns out to be a smog pump. I'm sorry I feel like an idiot now... But eBay won't let me revise the listing now that bids are up. If you want to retract your bid now, it's all good. It cost me over 80 bucks for this listing so I don't want to delete it and start over. Again I'm sorry about the mix up. I got excited about this jeep and was just in a rush to get this listed as soon as it was delivered to the dealership. I should have waited for my mechanic. Its still a long way from reserve so don't bid if air conditioning is a must have.

Oh good grief.... Let me start over about this stupid A/C... the auction company presented the jeep as having factory a/c... my son / mechanic said that it need a new tensioner pulley b/c the old one was making a loud noise due to a worn outbearing on the pulley wheel. He laid the part on my desk & saidhe had gone all over town and that no auto parts store could find such a part & asked me to look on line for one... I have had no luck finding one & didn't want to delay putting the jeep up for sale, so I posted it as is w/ mention of thenecessarypart to make the a/c work. Last night sitting at home after a long day of work & enjoying a relaxing glass of whiskey on the rocks while checking my eBay, people started asking a hundred questions about this old Jeep, amongall the conversation, someone suggested that the photo did not depict an air conditioning compressor & that it was indeed a smog pump. I felt reallystupid. I'm no mechanic, but I'm no idiot either. I couldn't believe that I had mistaken a smog pump for a compressor, but Iadmitted tomy foolish mistake, confronted my shame & guilt andimmediatelyupdated the ad to confess myembarrassment. I lost sleep over this last night. After tossing & turning for hours, the sun finally arose, Iheadedback down to the shop right away to get a look at this thing. At home I could only see the picture, the same one you see in the ad, so I was anxious to pop the hood and get a look for myself & low & behold, there it was... glowing under the morning sun, with theangelssinging hallelujah... it was a COMPRESSOR... my day is going much better now.The bad news... I followed the low pressure line to the other side of the fire wall and for some reason it's disconnected at the evaporator. It seems that all of the parts of the a/c system are there, but I sort of think it's going to take more than a new pulley to get it working.I'm sorry for the confusion. please feel free to call me if you have any questions. 252-619-8067
