Description for Jeep Commando 1970
This is 1970 Jeepster Commando 4x4 is such a nice find in this condition.....
The V-6, 225 CID engine starts right up and runs extremely well. The idle is smooth. The engine does not smoke ormake any unusualnoises. Mechanically this Jeep is sound and turn key.....The entire drive trainis solid and tight.
The 3 Speed Manual Transmission shifts properly into all gears and the 4x4 option engages properly.
The brakes, steering and suspension are in good working order.
The paint appears to be all original and has a very attractive and timeless look.Although the Commando has some rust the most important parts (chassis, frame and floors are very solid (see pics). The Jeep is structurallysound and as solid as they come. Another very important part of these Jeeps to consider isthe rear fenders flares and in this case they are completely virgin and have never been hit, cut or modified (see close up pics) like most of them are (cut out for larger tires). It has a tremendous amount of character and patina that would be hard to replicate......99% of the rust is on panels that are technically not attached to the body of the vehicle, ie; windshield frame, tailgate, doors, hood.... The most sever corrosion is on the tailgate (easily repairable or replaceable), all other imperfections can be easily fixed without panel replacement.
-Stock wheels, tires will need replacement. Correct matching hubcaps.
The interior seating surfaces are in remarkable condition (see photos)
Due to the 5 digit odometer and the age of the vehicle there is no way for us to verify the actual mileage.
This is a true and rare American classic, with only 60,00 units produced in the U.S.
This Jeep is the perfect candidate to restore or leave and enjoy as it is. The new owner/operator will have a lot of fun cruisingthis Jeepster to the beach or local shows.......It's definitelya conversation piece.....
California buyers, or if you plan on picking up in California you will be responsible to pay us for full price of motor vehicle + tax, title, registration (current or past due), smog *if applicable), transfer, DMV and all other fees associated with a sale in California.
