1992 Jeep Wrangler Renegade. I bought this awhile back with the intention of patching/replacing the various rust spots on the body and frame, but work, kids and other projects got in the way. Plus I've already got a low mile 92 Wrangler with a 5 speed. Unlike my base model, this Wrangler is pretty unique in that it has the Renegade trim option, 3 speed automatic (Jeeps variation of the Torqueflite), 3.55 Limited Slip Rear, Hardtop, AC, Center Console, Tilt and Intermittent wipers. It also has a ton of sound deadening insulation that makes it ride pretty quiet. Would have been cool to drive, but as I said, I just don't have time to tackle.
The Good: This is the original engine and it runs great. No leaks, cranks right up with a jump, doesn't smoke and makes good oil pressure. I did replace the alternator as the original unit froze up on me. It runs and drives and could be put back on the road if you've got the time, skills and love to do the work. All the Renegade body panels come with the Jeep and are in decent shape. I have already removed the panels in order to access the rust. Transmission shifts good and the 4 wheel drive works. The rear frame sections were replaced by a previous owner as was the driver side floorboard. Interior is fair and it comes with a Hardtop and a BestTop soft top frame (no soft top). Never tried the AC, but it's all there.
The Bad: This old girl was purchased in PA and undoubtedly saw a lot of salt and winter use. The Jeep is full of rust. As mentioned above, the rear frame sections have been replaced at some point, but there are a few upper and lower shock mounts that will need to be replaced along with the obvious body panels as well as the front frame section around the steering box. If your a Wrangler or CJ owner, you know all of the replacement panels/parts are readily available and pretty inexpensive. I also had a brake line rust out, so that will need to be replaced. As I said, you either need to love it enough to do the work yourself or buy it to part it out.
The "Other": This project is taking up space in my outbuilding and I'm motivated to sell. Minimum bid of $500.00. You bear the cost of and arrange for shipping or local pickup. I did mount a tow bar to the front bumper that you can have, but I wouldn't trust that set up for anything other than a local tow. If you've got a Wrangler and want a parts car, this is a good value. There are plenty of parts to use on your current Jeep as this one was highly optioned (for a Jeep)...plus a hardtop. You could also part it out and come out way ahead. I know that and considered it, just don't have the time.
