Description for Jeep CJ 1977
For sale is a 1977 Jeep CJ7. It is a 1977 by title only. Everything is new, rebuilt and/or replaced. Nothing on the Jeep is 1977. I built this Jeep 7 years ago. It was built to be able to drive to the trails, wheel all day and drive home. A lot of thought and preparation went into this build. I started with a rust free frame from a 1984 CJ7. The tub is fiberglass which I reinforced under the rear seat floor pan for strength, as I have seen glass tubs break and fall apart here. The hood, fenders, grille and windshield frame are steel. The windshield is new, rubber gasket is new as is the seal between the tub and windshield frame. The full cage is tied to the frame. The engine is a 6.0 liter LQ9 from a 2003 Cadillac Escalade. It has approx. 40k miles on when installed. (It was just installed last year as the original engine I put in was a 355 ci. TPI) I put all new gaskets in, as well as removed and inspected several rod bearings and main bearings. They are all in like new condition with no wear seen. I put a new water pump, thermostat, hoses, belt, tensioner, idler pulley, spark plugs and wires on. The harness is a stand-alone from Hotwire.com. All connectors are OEM quality and the harness is built very well. The alternator and starter are new as well. The injectors were sent out and rebuilt and flow matched. The company who did that eludes me at the moment... Oil pressure is excellent. This thing runs phenomenal! The drivability is night and day when compared to the TPI engine that was in it. The transmission is a Dodge NV4500 5 speed. This was rebuilt with new bearings, seals and synchro's. The output shaft was replaced along with the 5th gear upgrade kit. The clutch is Centerforce dual friction. The flywheel is a new Sachs, throw out bearing is new. It is a hydraulic clutch set up with a new master and slave cylinder. The pedal pressure is very light, my wife has no issues driving this. The transfer case is a Dana 300. It also is rebuilt with new bearings and seals. It also has the 4:1 low range gear set it. Coupled with the low 1st gear in the transmission, this thing crawls!! I opted not to do the twin stick as I have not heard good things about them nor have I really needed this feature in 90% of the off roading I have done in the past. Front driveshaft is a HD unit made by a local company. The rear is a Tom Woods CV shaft. The rear diff is a semi floating Dana 60. Yes, you read that correctly. It has new 4.10 gears, new bearings and seals and a Lock Right locker. The shafts are Alloy USA 35 spline. Lug pattern is 5 on 5.5, factory CJ pattern. Disc brakes, stainless hose, etc. Rear cover is reinforced. The front diff is a Dana 44 from a SJ. I kept it full width to match the rear. The front springs are outboarded with a shackle reversal. New gears, bearing and seals. Alloy shafts, HD knuckles with high steer arms. Warn premium lock outs, new brakes, wheel bearings, stainless hoses, etc. Steering is an AGR steering box. Linkage are HD heim joints with HD tube. Suspension is a spring under 2.5 inch kit. Rear ubolts are flipped to the top of the tube. Custom rear shock hoops with Rancho RSX9000 shocks set on top of the axle. Front shocks are the same Ranchos. Tires are 35x12.50 BFG KM2 Mud Terrains. Wheels are 15x8 American Racing Outlaw 2. Spare is the same and brand new. Bumpers are custom HD as are the slider/side bars. LED lights were installed when ever possible. Head lights are upgraded TJ lights with replaceable bulbs. Wiring harness is a new Painless Jeep harness. Dash is a custom aluminum with a custom cluster. Gauge are AutoMeter Phantom 2 with LED back lighting. This Jeep runs and drives very well. It steers and handles much better than any normal CJ. The wider stance gives an overall better stability. That said, it is not perfect nor is it a show vehicle. There are nicks, dings and imperfections all around. I am unable to tell you how it does offroad. I have never taken this out wheeling. It pains me to admit this but it's true. That's one of the reasons for the sale. I don't use it, it sits. In the 7 years it's been on the road, I've put 1500 miles on it. I drive it a few times over the summer and the rest of the year it sits. It has a full length bikini top and a soft top. I have never put the soft top on it so I do not know the actual condition of the top. Like I said earlier, I don't drive it except on nice days in the summer. I would consider a trade ONLY for a TJ Rubicon or LJ Rubicon. I am more than happy to take pictures and videos if you would like to see something that I do not have a picture of. My price is $15,800. Payment can be made in cash or bank check. I will do a bank check only during normal banking hours so I can call the bank and verify the funds. The Jeep is located in Mount Joy Pa 17552. I am posting this on many sites. I will consider delivering this at an additional cost. We can work out these details when the time comes. I'm sure I'm missing a bunch of details so please ask questions. I am more than happy to answer them. I've put countless hours into this Jeep. I do not even want to speculate how much money I've spent, mostly so my wife doesn't get upset. I really hate to sell it but the time has come. I do have a hard top and doors that could be available. I can work something out with a serious buyer. Thanks for looking and God Bless America!
