Description for Jeep Wagoneer 1987

1987 Jeep Wagoneer Limited Family Owned Heavily Modded

This is a one family owned 1987 Jeep Wagoneer Limited. It was made

by American Motors Corporation in Toledo Ohio. My Dad ran it in

Connecticut for the first 17 years and I assumed the title in New York .

The jeep has always had it's oil changed at 3,000 mile intervals and

all routine maintenance was strictly adhered to. Except for the engine,

Transmission, Differentials, and Transfer Case, almost every other system

has been replaced and/or upgraded. All of the work has been

by certified mechanics. I have a log and a folder of receipts.

I would in no way consider this Jeep restored. I have just tried to correct

some of the original weaknesses through the many options that

are available to the Jeep community. All work has been performed

over a 13 year period, exact dates can be verified by receipts.

As much as possible, I have tried to keep the Jeep's appearance

similar to it's original factory appearance.

I have been using the Jeep as my daily driver for many years and

it is dependable and runs well. I have had no problems in getting

through snow over a foot high and starting in single digit weather.

The steering response is as sharp as you are going to get in

an XJ and I would say that the

brake upgrades make a huge difference in stopping distances.

I've also noticed an improvement in the handling with the suspension

upgrades and the larger wheels. There are extra rear leaf spring leaves

if the next owner wanted to lift it beyond the current 1" lift hight.

Lastly, I have run for hours on the highway with the ac on

with 94 degree summer days with no overheating issues.

Known Issues

1. Power Door Locks are weak I believe the locks need to be removed and cleaned of build up.

2. Temperature Gauge is 10 degrees off, the coolant system has been thermally verified as running cooler than indicated.

3. Speedometer is off by 6.75 mph due to the larger 16" wheels.

4. Driveline thumps a bit, it goes away once the jeep is in motion for a while.

5. Rear Window Washer Spray Nozzle does not work it's clogged and needs to be replaced.

6. Right Rear Window can get stuck if it goes all the way down. It's done this for over 20 years,

I just don't lower the window all the way.

7. Missing jack for spare tire and the original factory manual.

8. Front Seats need to be recovered as the leather is cracking and splitting.

9. Front Window Washer Warning Light disconnected I've replaced the windshield fluid bucket

and the internal level sensor was indicating empty when the tank was full .

10. Subwoofer Amp needs to be replaced.

11. Rear Engine Seal leaks oil (standard for all xj jeeps) however the oil filter seals have been replaced.

12. The Jeep was involved in a fender bender and the other drivers insurance paid to have the front right

fender replaced. The Jeep drives straight and is not affected

by the accident. I have a detailed carfax available for your reference.

13. Paint has lustre and there is no open body surface rust, but there are imperfections

on bodywork and trim pieces.
