Description for Jeep CJ 1981
1981 Jeep Scrambler for sale NOT a 1980. It will not accept my VIN for some reason. I bought this car February 2016 and it was not running. The car has since been returned to Great running condition. All work was done by a professional 4 wheel drive shop who does a lot of work on Jeeps (75 miles from my house). They love the car and I have done everything they have recommended of me to have done. They have re-built the entire front end with heavy duty parts and I have the receipts for everything they did and parts they used. The condition of the engine has been a big question since we bought the car but the 4 wheel drive shop told me he has built several AMC 360 engines and this one is the strongest running engine he has ever seen. However, the oil pressure reads low at idle when it is warm outside in my opinion. The paint is a 6 of 10 because that's how we like it. The body is an 8.5 out of 10. Rust is minor but includes surface rust to the under body and it is rusted through in some spots where the 4 corners of the role bar meet the bed. This can be fixed easily if you wish to do so. The car has been a southern car its entire life to my knowledge until I bought it and it has never seen snow to my knowledge. I have never needed to use the 4 wheel drive but the 4 wheel drive shop says it is in excellent condition. It has lock out hubs on the front wheels. Several anti-theft upgrades have been made. The car goes down the express way straight and as fast as you would ever want to go. The only things I can think of that don't work is the horn (which is going to minor) and the cabin heat is not connected. Sale includes hard top, hard doors, bimini top and its track.Other upgrades include:
New small lockbox in drivers area
New dual USB charging station installed on dash
New wind shield

I still love this car and wish things in my life were going differently. Everyone loves driving in it, seeing it and hearing it. My loss is your gain. Please feel free to ask any questions. I have a crap ton of money in this car and I am firm on the price. To build any cj and end up with a jeep like this would cost WAY MORE than what I am asking. Thanks for your interest.
