Description for Jeep CJ 1973
Have owned this for about two years... time to move on to another toy! I am firmly committed to moving this out of my garage so I have decided to offer this as a NO Reserve auction. Highest bidder owns it. Sold as-is where-is. Will assist with shipping. $500 PayPal deposit within 24hours, prefer cash for the balance, otherwise the Jeep and its Title will stay in my possession until funds clear my bank. Clear Florida Title in hand. The previous owner did most of the work about 10 years ago and it still shows very well. He used a high quality fiberglass body, as evident in the bodywork details. The tailgate and hood are steel. There is some surface rust on the shocks but they seem to be good, but I have never taken it offroad. Under carriage is in great shape, there is some surface rust on some items, but the frame (and everything else) is solid. The bumpers are custom and very nice, and it has nice rims and tires. Engine runs great, but I must say the engine compartment is very utilitarian (ie, not very pretty), it could use some chrome, wire management etc. It has the original AMC 304 V8. with hedman headers and flowmaster shorties and sounds sweet. It runs great but does have a few items on the to-do list that I haven't got around to.
What I have done:
Re-built carb (oem style 2-barrel), and replaced the distributor cap / rotor button / spark plugs at the same time and re-set the timing. I also replaced fuel pump and fuel line between pump and carb (it still has the mechanical pump on the block). I also replaced the battery once...before I realized it had an electrical issue (see below).
What still needs to be done:
Work out electrical issue... the radio or something is draining the battery. I have installed a battery disconnect to keep it from killing the battery. The radio doesn't work right (usually not at all) so I assume it the culprit.
There is no back seat and there are no seat belts anywhere in the jeep.
There is no windshield wiper motor or windshield wipers, it does have a pretty chrome motor cover.
Steering is sloppy (and from what I recall...its been a long time since I drove an old cj prior to owning this one) it is sloppier than it should be. So the steering box needs to be rebuilt.
