Description for Jeep CJ 1983

You are viewing a nearly 100% original 1983 Jeep CJ-7 Laredo. This super solid Texas CJ (now in Alabama) still wears it's original paint and original Laredo stripes and decals! This Jeep has never been modified. cut up. patched up. rusted out. etc. Here are some details about this rare find. rig. 258 straight 6 engine (rebuilt)Original 3 speed automatic transmission (rebuilt)4WDPower steering Power front disc brakesTilt steering wheelFactory ACFactory hard top and steel doorsAll original Laredo items are present except for the front seatsOriginal jack and tool still under the hoodSwing out spare tire carrierTrailer hitchCab stepsEtc. The body on this Jeep is straight as an arrow with the only exception being the left rear corner which is dented but repairable. The tub. rockers. frame. body mounts. etc. are all super solid with no previous rust repair. etc. The body panels are all original to the Jeep and the paint is original as well. The paint is still presentable except for the hood (very thin) and the fronts of the front fenders (stone chips). You can still see the original white paint underneath the Jeep too and in the wheelhouses. etc. this Jeep really does have a super clean body and frame. The hardtop and steel doors are original to the Jeep as well. The interior is mostly original except for the front seats and is presentable too. The original Laredo rear seat is in nice condition. This is a heavily optioned CJ and everything is still there. This really would be an ideal CJ to fully restore particularly considering what Laredos are bringing now. Mechanically. nbsp; The 258 straight 6 has been rebuilt and the Weber carb is really the only modification. It runs well and does not smoke. knock. leak. etc. it holds very good oil pressure too. The transmission has been rebuilt too and shifts great. The 4wd functions as it should. The Jeep drives down the road nice and straight and handles well. It stops well but the front brakes are making some noise like it may be time for pads. The lights work. turn signals. speedo. odometer. and aftermarket oil pressure gauge. The gas gauge doesn't work. The tires have plenty of tread but there is some dry rotting from sitting. They are fine to drive around town with but I wouldn't trust them on a trip. Overall. this is a very solid and original untouched CJ that would be great to do a cosmetic resto on. These survivor Jeeps are getting harder and harder to find and the prices are just going to keep going up. Many of my auctions end with just a phone call. I can arrange shipping worldwide. 205-276-1918.
