Description for Jeep CJ 1983
he Jeep brand has laid the ground work for many enthusiasts to sculpt their Jeep with their own flare and style. Modifications that have been done by many talented people are quite impressive over the recent years. This 1983 CJ-7 is quite impressive and was built with passion and was created to perform! This CJ is powered by a healthy 454 v8. The block is a 1999 fuel injected block. It has headers, Mallory distributor, a Crane roller cam, Edelbrock...intake, 780 Holley carburetor with spring loaded needles and seats that is set up for off road use. The Turbo 350 automatic transmission was beefed up so it could handle the power of the 454. The axles consist of a Ford 1 ton axle that has been narrowed with Moser axle shafts, Detroit locker and 4:10 gears. The front axle is a Dana 44 out of a Scout. The transfer case is a Dana 300 with a big shaft in it to hold up to the added power. As you can see in the photos, this jeep is a bit longer than your average CJ-7. It was stretched 21 inches and it was done very well. Highlights include electric fuel pump with a prime button on the dash if it sits around too long without use, new ring and pinion in the back, custom 23 gallon aluminum gas tank, bronze glass in the top, custom drive shafts, rear tool box, full roll cage, rear mounted spare tire, power brakes, power steering, aluminum radiator, dual exhaust with Magnaflow mufflers, 35x14.5R17 BF Goodrich tires, Autometer gauges, center console, Hurst Promatic 2 shifter, Clarion AM/FM/CD player with 2 6x9 speakers, and Skyjacker shocks. When this thing was built, the owner freshened up the engine, transmission, rear end, transfer case. This Jeep was very well built and is sure please.
