Description for Jeep CJ 1983

Showing up at the next Jeep Jamboree in this 1983 Jeep Scrambler is going to generate a lot of attention. From the relative rarity of the body style to the fuel injected straight six, this 4x4 is the Jeep that everyone's going to be talking about out on the trail. Stretching a CJ7 into a mini pickup truck was a clever idea that never quite caught on, making it rather unusual to see a Scrambler today. And... finding one that hails from the desert like this beauty is extra special. The glossy paint gives it a smooth look up against the squared-off bodywork, which happens to be very straight and isn't masked by any body armor cover-up. Underneath, the sheetmetal is in great shape with no signs of the usual tin worm issues that can plague these cool little trucklets, a direct result of an easy-going life in a dry climate. Scrambler is decaled on the hood, as if you needed that to know what this is, and it has accessories like a hood-mounted jack, tow hitch, and a spare tire hanging off the tailgate in back. The roll cage has been expertly installed for further safety and the bed itself is covered in spray-on bedliner material, so it's tough enough for anything you can fit in there. When you're heading out with all your gear, THIS is the truck that everyone's going to wish they owned. Built for battle and comfort, the interior is better equipped for any situation than many of this Jeep's peers. Corbeau buckets are awesome for crawling over rough terrain, holding you in place while being comfortable enough for all-day drives. The floor is lined with the same spray-in bedliner material used out back, so it's low maintenance and you can just about hose it out when you get home. A center console adds security and that CD player is begging for some open-air tunes. Other desirable features include a GT Grant steering wheel, aftermarket shift-knob, and Jeep-logo floor mats. The gauges are in great shape, including the auxiliary water temp gauge installed beneath the dash. A full soft top and doors are included, along with a rear bench seat that makes this a legitimate 4-seater that can still carry a decent load of cargo at the same time. The 258 cubic inch inline-six under the hood pretty much guarantees there's no mountain you can't climb. Legendary for its reliability and easy torque production, this is the engine that made the CJ series famous. This Scrambler takes that reputation a step further with the added reliability of a Howell throttle body injection system. Other than the TBI and tube air filter, it's fairly stock under the hood. Not detailed for show, but not mud-covered either, the engine bay is honest and tidy. And the oversized aluminum radiator is a welcome addition for both trail runner and urban trekker alike. That K&N air filter helps the six breathe a little better and a snarky exhaust note bellows thanks to a Flowmaster muffler in back. The 5-speed shifter is a lot of fun to row through the gears and a Fox Racing suspension gives it the ground clearance to articulate over any terrain. Add in the power steering and front disc brakes and this Scrambler proves to be more than just a trail bruiser. Those 33-inch Goodyear Wrangler tires are up to any task and wrap around handsome aluminum wheels that are the perfect complement to the slick red paint. Highly visible and capable, this Scrambler is ready to conquer all foes and look good doing it. Try building one to this level and you'll find that the asking price is a screaming bargain.
