Description for Jeep CJ 1985
1985 Jeep CJ7 Spring Special. The Spring Special is an uber rare Jeep that was manufactured in April of 1985. Very very few were made, making it one of the rarest CJ7s ever produced. The Spring Special was a trim package that consisted of black vinyl seats with orange piping, and the original white wagon wheels also had orange stripes. The seats are this Spring Special are immaculate. I'd rate them just about a 10 on a 1-10 scale.
This Jeep also has some nice add-ons to include air conditioner, Howell California compliant (CARB) throttle body fuel injection, and brand new Pro-Comp rims with tires that have less than 10 miles on them. So much potential with this Jeep!
Jeep is equipped with the factory 258 engine, T5 transmission, Dana 300 transfer case, tilt column, and fold and tumble rear seat. With just 25,XXX miles, I'll go out on a whim here and say this is the lowest mileage Spring Special in existence.
***Here's my complete disclosure of areas of concern with this Jeep.
- Jeep does have some very repairable rust on the tub. Driver side rocker has rust, along with the driver side front floor board and the area where the side of the tub meets with the floor where the rear seat sits. Passenger side of the vehicle's tub is super nice all around.
- Frame has surface rust, but it cleans up very well. Absolutely no "through rot" that I could find anywhere (poked around with a screwdriver). I used a wire cup wheel and angle grinder to clean up parts of the frame that I thought were the worst (see photos of before and after below). The frame cleans up very nicely.
- Engine does bog some. Basically when you give it gas, the Jeep moves but accelerates very slowly Compression checks good. Problem is likely with transfer case or transmission. I'm not the greatest mechanically, so I'm not 100% on this, but I don't think its anything significant or expensive.
- Hard top has a piece missing on the driver side interior where the door seal rests agaisnt. Very repairable by a shop that deals with fiberglass.
- Hood, front fenders, doors, tailgate, cowl, and windshield frame appear perfect with no issues whatsoever.
$10,500 OBO. I feel given the rarity, low miles, and potential this Jeep has to offer the price is more than fair. Feel free to make an offer I will consider all REASONABLE offers.
I will be out of town May 30 - June 13. You can either pick up or ship the Jeep before or after those dates. Please feel free to call with any questions you may have. 520-789-0875
