Description for Jeep Jeepster Commando 1967
1967 Jeepster Commando
This jeep has been built to go wherever you want to go.
This is a quick overview of what has gone into this Jeep. It was built about 7 years ago and has been used very lightly and had the bugs worked out since. Has about 2,500 miles since the build. It has a custom rectangular tube frame as stock frames are not built to handle what this jeep is capable of doing. The custom frame was designed to stretch the wheel base to 108â€. The hood and front fenders were stretched 5 inches to fit the wheel base. Suspension is linked front and rear. Lower links are 2 x .25 wall DOM and are equal length front and rear. Rear is a 3 link with a wishbone style upper link. Rear has coils with Bilstein shocks. Runs JK springs which are easily swapped (about 30 minutes) if you want to change ride height or ride characteristics for different tire sizes. ORI struts are completely adjustable and the Jeep comes with a nitrogen filling station for tuning the struts however you choose. Front is a 3 link with a panhard bar and has ORI struts. Front and rear flex great but also handle well on the road. Steering is hydraulic assist and has no problem turning the 39.5" tires. Front axle is a high pinion Ford dana 60. Rear axle is a sterling 10.25. Gears are 5.13's and both axles are Lincoln locked. Front has manual locking hubs so it drives and steers good on road. It has disc brakes all around. With 40â€-42" tires, full width axles, and 108" wheel base, the jeep is very stable and still has room for gear behind the back seat.
Engine is a throttle body injected 350 backed by a turbo 350 automatic tranny. Has a 203/205 doubler with a cable actuated triple stick set up by JB Fab. It will do front or rear axle alone or together with one or both transfer cases in low or high range. It will do front digs and two wheel drive low, low. It has all the gearing options you will ever need.
Has tons of nice tube work. The front fenders are one off and are mostly DOM tubing. The rear fender flares are aluminum tubing. Has a full size spare in a tube mount that swings down from the rear bumper and cage to more easily access the back of the Jeep. Has Corbeau buckets in the front and I have a matching bench for the back. Currently I have a tube "seat" that my kids car seats mount to. There are two aluminum roof panels that mount to tabs on the cage for some protection from the elements. Both panels are removable if desired. There is no top, but the cage was designed to fit inside a top if you want to get one for it. I choose not to drive this in cold weather and did not want to store a top. Tube shock and strut mounts, tube radiator guard, etc. Winch is a cheapo, but I pretty much only used it to pull out my stuck friends. The jeep has custom rocker guards that are tied to the frame and body. These are strong enough to lift the jeep up with and are designed to match the angle of the lower portion of the body. There is a burly skid plate below the gas tank, and a skid plate as part of the transfer case crossmember.
Jeep has pretty new paint in good condition. This was a $5,000 paint job. It is not a show quality paint job, but looks good. The body was solid and has almost no filler in it anywhere. There are some patches and alterations in the floors, but most of it was to provide more clearance for the back tires at full flex.
This jeep is very capable and has been to Moab, Kelly Flats, and Penrose. It is far more capable than what was originally planned, but still drives well on the street for what it is. All of the bugs are worked out, and it is ready for whatever you throw at it. This is a well thought out Jeep and doesn't look like everyone else's TJ or JK. Its over 50 years old, but is engineered to be similar to a much newer Jeep. Has a co2 tank for refilling tires that comes with. The doors are not aligned very well as I like to take the doors and windshield off when driving in the mountains. The doors can be aligned just fine, but I just bolted them back on and made sure they open and close. It has the windows in the doors that provide a little more protection if you need it.
Everything works on the Jeep like it should. Everywhere I drive it people want to ask me about it and check it out or take pictures of it. Im selling it because I really don't use it much anymore. I mostly take it to get ice cream with my kids, and I need the space in my garage. I do not need money and am not in a big hurry to sell it, so please do not low ball me on the price.
Price is $26,500 or best reasonable offer. This is a unique jeep with countless hours of fabrication work to make the frame and all the custom tube work. Not to mention the tons, 40's, V8, and two transfer cases.
