Description for Jeep Cherokee 1977
Vehicle Details1977 Jeep Cherokee S (Sport). Rare Z code factory 401 V8 (6.6L). Levi’s interior package. First year Cherokee was available in a 4 door. Runs and drives. Has strong running AMC 401 V8. Rebuilt by previous owner. Has great oil pressure 60 to 80psi. No smoke or noises. Had recent oil change. Starts right up in the cold. It has Quadratrac full time four wheel drive. GM TH400 automatic transmission. Shifts smooth through all gears. Dana 44 axles front and rear. Has some minor transmission drips. I haven’t physically inspected the brakes but the Jeep stops well. Tires have decent tread on them front and rear (tires may have old date codes). Mounted on very desirable and hard to find slotted mag wheels. I Drove it up to our cabin this weekend for photos. About 50 miles of driving. Up to 65 mph. The powerful 401 pulled it up the steep grades of the Rocky Mountains effortlessly. I have additional photos and videos of the drive. Very solid Jeep with very minimal rust. Originally from western Nebraska. No thru rust anywhere underneath / floor boards. Frame is clean. I had it up on a lift and took pictures of the undercarriage. Also pulled the carpet up. At one point in time it looks like it had the rear quarters repaired or replaced. Paint is original other than primered rear quarters. Has a great patina look. This Jeep could easily have a few minor things done to be a great daily driver, hunting rig or fully restored back to its original glory. All lights and gauges seem to work as they should. Wipers work. Horn works. Heater / defrost work. The radio is missing from the dash. The dash clock lights up but doesn’t work. The windshield is cracked. All other glass is in good shape. The rear window in the tailgate is power and rolls up and down with the switch. The tilt steering column will need to be rebuilt. There is quite a bit of up and down play in it. Also the turn signal switch is hard to get to right turn. I have some spare parts that will be included. I have a spare hood, spare instrument cluster and spare wheel center cap. I do not have a key for the doors. Only ignition key. It appears a key has been broken off in tailgate. Has headers and dual exhaust with glass packs. Not the nicest exhaust system but functional. Does not have catalytic converters or smog equipment installed on the engine. Also has a 4 barrel carburetor and aluminum intake. I’ll gladly answer any questions, send additional pictures / videos or set up a time for someone to see in person. Test drives and mechanical inspections welcome and encouraged. I know it can be hard to purchase a vehicle without seeing it first. I have been on eBay for 19 years with 100% happy buyers. This is a very rare and sought after Jeep that gets attention everywhere it goes. I haven’t found any others like it for sale anywhere. A mildly built 401 can cost as much as my asking price. If not more. Not many Jeeps came with this expensive factory option. Only available from 1974 to 1978 in the Cherokee. Ten years ago we'd never imagine seeing old fullsize Jeeps with more than $100,000 thrown at them but lo and behold it is clear that the world has started to appreciate the full size Jeep. They’re are starting to become like the early Broncos. Hagerty shows values on the rise. This is a great investment opportunity. It deserves a good home! $500 deposit due at end of auction. Buyer is responsible for making arrangements to pick up and pay remaining amount. Call or text (970)310-3914 with any questions.
