Description for Jeep Cherokee 1992
Vehicle Hello and thank you for looking at my auction. My name is Joe and I sell vehicles differently than most dealers. Buying your next car or truck through one of my NO RESERVE auctions is the best way to take the games out of your next automotive purchase. I personally road test each vehicle before it is offered for sale so I can give you my first hand opinion of how it runs and drives. Please keep in mind that I am not a mechanic. Each vehicle is represented accurately and honestly to the best of my knowledge and ability. Please take the time to read this entire description as well as our Terms & Conditions carefully BEFORE asking questions or placinga bid. An administrative fee of $149 will be added to the final bid of each auction.Up for a NO RESERVE auction is a 1992 Jeep Cherokee Laredo 4x4. The Jeep Cherokee has an excellent reputation as a rugged and reliable SUV. I would rate the exterior of this Jeep to be in AVERAGE CONDITION for its age and mileage. As you can see this is a decent looking Cherokee. It is finished in gray with matching gray interior. The finish is noticeable faded from age but is still presentable. The only rust I noticed was a small hole on the drivers floor pan which isn't bad for the age/mileage. The body lines up nice and straight. The hood doors and tail gate all open and close easily. The lift struts for the tail gate are weak and don't hold the tail gate up anymore. All of the glass and lenses are intact. The original alloy wheels show well and are wrapped in a nice set of rubber with good tread all around. The rear window wiper arm is also broken. Overall not too bad for its age and mileage.
I would also rate the interior of this Cherokee to be in AVERAGE CONDITION for its age and mileage. The door panels show well. The carpets show their age...but I've seen far worse. The seats still show well and are comfortable. As with many old Jeeps the headliner is gone. The power window buttons are a little loose from age but all of the windows work. The power locks do not work. The stereo has been upgraded with an aftermarket CD player which powers up and appears to work properly. The heater works fine. The air conditioner will need charged or serviced as it does not blow cold air. The cargo area is fairly clean. The interior could benefit from a thorough cleaning to look and smell its best...or you could just not worry about it. That's what I would do.
Mechanically this Jeep appears to be in good running and driving condition. The 4.0L six cylinder engine starts easily and runs smoothly. I didn't notice any excessive leaks (has usual valve cover leak ect.) and the engine does not smoke. The suspension feels okay for its age. I'm sure it would benefit from some new bushings but I put the last 100 miles on it with no issues or concerns...just some usual age related play in the front end and a mild vibration at highway speeds presumably from the worn bushings. The brakes feel good. The engine keeps perfect oil pressure (which is very very important as these engines age) and good temperature. She makes plenty of power and feels strong. The automatic transmission engages smoothly and shifts properly. Out on the highway she drives nice and straight with no complaints other than the aforementioned vibration. The 4WD system is tested and working properly. The only thing I noticed is that the fuel gauge doesn't work.
I bought this Jeep off of the dealership it was traded in at. When I bought the truck it was on a Virginia title that says "prior MD water damage". I don't have any specific knowledge as to what may or may not have happened in the past and I do not have the PA title back yet but I would assume it will also be branded "prior flood/water damage". Please understand that this is a 23 year old Jeep. The little bit of research I've done says that this issue dates back to the end of 2003 which was twelve years ago...so anything that could have potentially happened to it as a possible side effect of whatever happened back in 2003 would have probably already happened. I don't see any obvious present damage. The interior doesn't smell the greatest but it is not a wet or musty smell just an old truck smell. The truck runs and drives just like you'd expect any 23 year old truck to drive...not great but she gets down the road alright. There are no known electrical or mechanical issues. As I mentioned earlier there is a small rust hole on the drivers front floor pan...which is extremely common as these Jeeps age and is not something I would associate with water damage. Thanks for looking and good luck bidding.
