Description for Lamborghini Countach 1984
You’re looking at a 1984 Lamborghini Countach Kit Car. It’s built on a 1984 Pontiac Fiero with the 2.5L 4 cylinder.I’ve owned this car for about a year now and have had a lot of fun with it. It is mechanically sound and I drive it regularly. The engine runs well, it is very reliable and I’ve never had an issue with it. After these Kit cars were built, they had a tendency to get very little use. When I got mine, I wanted to drive it! So when I purchased it I had many items replaced that go bad after a certain number of years. I had the fuel pump replaced, throttle body replaced, new belts, new filters, new sensors, and new hoses. Therefore, as previously stated it’s running and driving well. NOW, it is running and driving well by 40 year old car standards! If you’ve never owned a classic car, comfort and driveability in modern vehicles has come a long way. By nature, they are louder, less comfortable, and overall more unpleasant to drive. I am a very honest person and with the age of internet sales and the inability to see vehicles before you purchase them I do not want to offend anyone or crush any hopes and dreams, but I must be 100% brutally honest. While this is a good and usable daily driver in my eyes, to some people it may not be, yet to others it may be something that’s road worthy for cross country where to me, the level of discomfort after 3 hours in a car of this age would become unbearable. It’s all relative. This leads me to my next point... If you’ve never owned a Kit car (I had not before this one) I would recommend doing some research on them. Kit cars were primarily built by private individuals with subpar guidance and instruction. The fiberglass Lamborghini bodies, while built nearly to the same spec as the real ones, often times had imperfections. Many of them, by no fault of the builder, would have doors that would not close properly, windows that would not seal, and cracks in the paint caused by vibrations would develop over time. While this vehicle is a good example of a well built kit, it does suffer from a few of the common Kit car ailments. The doors do not seat as well as I’d like them to, you do get a little light coming in under both sides. This can be used as is, or I’m sure with some time, could be properly adjusted. The rubber trim around some of the windows is just basic outdoor trim that can be purchased anywhere, is starting to show its age and peel back in a few places. I would recommend replacing it if you were going to drive it frequently. Also, there are no structural cracks anywhere on the body, but in the common areas, around the wheel wells, around the windshield, and around the door hinges, there is some spidering in the paint. Lastly, as seen in the photos, there is some damage to the front low hanging splitter where the previous owner broke it while pulling out of a very steep driveway. Other than that, overall the paint is in relatively good shape with a little bit of fading here and there. Nothing a wax job wouldn’t bring back. The tires are in good shape, all of the lights and blinkers work. Since I’ve owned it, I haven’t replaced any shocks or suspension parts, and being that the car is nearly 40 years old, if you intended on driving it for long periods, it might be something worth looking into in the coming years. And the last thing that I haven’t messed with on the vehicle is the air-conditioning. It blows fine, and the heat works, but it appears that the AC will need to be recharged. I have just been using it as is. If you have any questions, or you are local and can come by to test drive it, you are more than welcome to reach out to me. I see a lot of these vehicles being listed and sold for much more money in a lot worse shape then mine, and people feel they have been ripped off. Please do you research and don’t be afraid to ask me any questions. These are GREAT cars to own, I’ve never had a more fun vehicle, but they do have they’re quirks. Overall the experience having this car has been an absolute joy. There’s nothing else like it on the road, and the attention you get when you go anywhere with this thing is second to none. Thanks for looking!
