With a narrow angle V4 engine lying on its side powering the front wheels. all Fulvias drive with exceptional poise and grip. Produced in three series. with Fiat taking over the company towards the end of the run. there are numerous engine sizes and performance variants to choose from. Fulvia coupes also were re-bodied by Zagato. leading to the fastback Sport. However. from a design standpoint it's hard to beat the original coupe. styled in-house by Piero Castagnero. CONDITION AND HISTORY: Mid-Century Motoring searched high and low overseas for a good Series I Fulvia. and is very pleased to offer this fantastic example. According to a variety of old stickers on the car. this Fulvia lived for much of its life in and around Bergamo. near Milan. It was then brought to the Netherlands. living in the Zwolle region and participating in the 16th Racident Oldtimer Tour in 2008 (the event placard was discovered behind the passenger side floor mat). Officially. this is an 818. 130 coupe with the 818. 100 1. 2 liter engine. Recently. the car drove almost two hundred miles on a trip to Lime Rock and performed exceptionally well. The V4 loves to rev and makes a very charming noise. while the twin Solex carbs are in a good state of tune and provide a quiet. consistent idle. This car is equipped with the desirable early long-lever four-speed gearbox that shifts very nicely. though like many Fulvias the clutch tends to have a high engagement point. The independent front suspension and Dunlop disc brakes work well too without any complaints. According to the stunning Veglia Borletti instruments. the engine holds temperature perfectly. though both the oil pressure and fuel gauges work intermittently. The car has been driven and loved. with a very dry. straight. and original body. The white paint is presentable. wearing a pleasant. consistent patina. and features a subtle navy blue pinstripe down the beltline. It looks like the wheels were painted silver at some point. replacing their original off-white. though the new color suits the car overall. Each Lancia chrome hubcap is in great condition. while all trim and badging is intact and looks original. The interior has benefitted from careful ownership and perhaps some restoration. including a stunning varnished wood dash (replacing the original Lancia veneer that is very prone to peeling). The black vinyl throughout is near flawless and the rubber floor mats appear fresh. as does the headliner. All lights. wipers. and accessories work. although the clock is currently stuck at 6:50. A five-digit odometer reads 32. 00 kilometers. though this exceeds mechanical limits and may mean 132. 00 km (82. 00 miles).
