Description for MG MGB 1976
I bought this for my wife exactly a year ago. It had been parked for nearly a year at that time and had no brakes. I put in a new battery. replaced the wheel cylinders. master cylinder. rear brake shoes and all brake hoses. Also replaced rear axle limiter straps while I was there. as well as the taillight lenses. which were kind of cloudy. Went for the first test drive and clutch was slipping. Pulled the engine. the clutch was shot. Replaced the pressure plate. throwout bearing and friction disc. As the radiator was out and coolant drained. replaced all hoses (cooling and heater). Front end bushings were pretty rotten. so replaced with urethane. Tried another test drive and it has a "shake" that starts at about 50mph. Had front wheels/tires balanced. didn't fix it. Put the car up on jackstands and ran it. Shake is definitely in driveline/rear end. I did a static balance check on the rear wheels and tires and they seem to be fine. I'm guessing driveshaft may need to be balanced. My wife was in a head-on collision in her Grand Cherokee this winter. and there's no way she's going to drive a small car after that. I ride motorcycles and have no interest. so it's time to sell. In addition to parts replaced as mentioned above. the car has a 2-barrel Weber carb. header and aftermarket exhaust. roll bar. luggage rack. working overdrive. what I think are appliques that look like burled walnut on the dash and console. The convertible top is in excellent condition and and is of great quality. Seat covers are excellent. Car starts right up. runs and shifts very nicely. Suspension feels very good. Tires are excellent. I've spent a fair amount of time working on this car and have found no rust damage whatsoever. Body is very straight. Paint is presentable. not show quality. Interior overall is extremely good for a car of this age. The bad- fuel gauge doesn't work. the abovementioned shake. no spare tire. Car was originally yellow and was repainted at some point. Door jambs. sills. trunk all were done. but engine compartment is still yellow. There is a radio/cd player installed in the console. but it is missing the faceplate. so really it's just filling the hole. Whoever installed the muffler welded the muffler hanger to the trunk floor and it broke out a nickel sized piece of the trunk. I redid the mount and welded a small cover plate over the hole in the trunk. Carpets are okay. but a new set wouldn't hurt. Dash has a couple cracks in the vinyl. Car is for sale with a low reserve. please don't ask what that is. Winning bidder is responsible for arranging pickup/shipping. I would like a $500 deposit within 72 hours of auction's end and full payment in 7 days. I can store the car for up to a month. no charge. while pickup/shipping is arranged. I have given as complete a description as I can and will be happy to take more pictures or answer any questions. Car is sold as is/where is. no warranty expressed or implied.
