This IS a 1988 Land Rover. nbsp; but the ebay VIN decoder. nbsp; genius that it is. nbsp; is not able to read European VIN#s. Sorry. but I had to indicate '1980' in my ad. I am sure this is not the first time you have seen this problem here on ebay. This auction is for my 1988 Land Rover Defender 90 w/ low miles (128. 10 as of today- likely to go up as I drive frequently) Starts right up and runs. drives great. Ready to use as a daily driver. nbsp; newer interior. nbsp; does need some rust repair in one normal area. new rear bumper/frame/cross member. Ready to drive anywhere now. A lot of potential. and I can build-to-order to higher-specification. PLEASE read entire description and look at all the photos as this truck is sold as-is and has no warranty or guarantee other than it will be provided with a clear. Oregon title and is currently mechanically healthy and starts right up and drives very nicely. If you can. PLEASE do come and look at the truck in person before bidding and take it out for a test drive. I recently imported this Land Rover from the UK. Legally imported by me. nbsp; truck has passed all CBP/ DOT/ EPA inspections and Oregon DMV/ title application has been applied for and is coming in about 3 weeks in the mail. This is the only thing I do guarantee on this vehicle. a clear Oregon title for the buyer. I am a licensed and bonded Oregon dealer (Oregon license # DA4226) so you can buy with the confidence that you will receive vehicle title. After receiving truck here at my shop in Portland. nbsp; I put filters in it. nbsp; did a valve adjustment. put in a fresh battery and diesel and it fired right up! I did have to change the clutch slave cylinder before being able to drive this 90. but after new cylinder. truck runs and drives great! Firewall has added sound-proofing. and it is surprisingly quiet inside vehicle. or at least much more quiet than most. This truck did receive new seats not long ago. nbsp; so front seats as well as the 4 inward-facing rear seats all look great. like new even. Carpet is an amateur job. nbsp; and looks good but is not a perfect fit. I pulled carpet back in front and back. and found zero rust in the back. and only the smallest bit of rust in the front. mainly on the screw heads for securing floor to body. Door panels look great. and windows go up and down easily. Transmission shifts perfectly and is quiet in all gears. This truck has the 1. 4:1 LT230 transfer case. so the 19J turbo-diesel pulls quite well and is capable of freeway speeds. You will not being towing your boat up a hill at freeway speeds. however. You will get 20-25MPG most of the time though. All electrics work - heater works well. too. I've left the truck parked outside in the rain a few times and it does not seem to leak inside the truck. Tires are in good condition. nbsp; rims are Original 'Rostyle' steel wheels and could use a painting but are otherwise in good condition. Dash looks perfect with no cracks or discolored spots. Headliner looks great. Center console armrest has a chewed spot on it. I can replace this for about $100 if you like. Body is very straight. and paint appears to be original. nbsp; and the overall impression is very good - but - upon close inspection you can see there are many bubbles in the paint in may places on the truck and it would really have to be repainted to look fantastic again. Paint does respond to some rubbing and will get shiny. nbsp; but you will always detect the bubbles lurking underneath. There is a spot in the drivers side rear corner where it looked like the body took a smack near the rear corner and there is some cracking in the paint there. Rear door is the worst panel on the truck for bubbling. nbsp; I suspect rust in the frame of the rear door. nbsp; good thing brand-new replacements are available for about $300. THE UGLY ; There is significant rust on the passenger-side bulkhead. in the 'normal' area just under the windshield. It appears some rust began there inside the bulkhead and then the truck sat for some time and it got bad. I do have the repair section for this. nbsp; and it will likely cost 4-500 dollars to have it cut out and welded correctly to repair. The other side (Drivers) has none of this at all. There is a spot in the rear wheel-well where the previous owners poked a hole to fish their trailer-light hook ups through. Not necessary. nbsp; but they did it. Will be easy to repair. and it is hidden by the carpet and in an aluminum panel. anyway. There are several spots on the galvanized tub lip where rust has bubbled up. Windshield has one stone chip in it. I can have the rust repaired. nbsp; and if it were me. I would take the carpet out of this truck and replace with new fitted Land Rover rubber mats (Look great and will make the truck smell new again!) . nbsp; I also have brand-new soft top kits (hoops/ canvas tops/ all hardware to fit) I also have Boost alloy wheels. and Discovery axles to fit under the truck to give 4-wheel disc brakes. I can fit a 200tdi direct-injection engine for an additional $5000 - I can build this pretty much however you like if you wish. nbsp; message me or call me at 503-810-4713 to discuss.
