Description for Land Rover Defender 1986
Land Rover Defender D 90. Condition is Used. Vehicle Code Name: "Rory."This vehicle saw service in Kosovo with the British Army under NATO command. After the war ended on June 11,1999, it wasdecommissioned andwarehoused (hence the low mileage.) It was later sold to a dealer and shipped to France.
While there, the UK right-hand drive column was shifted and converted to a standard US left hand drive. The vehicle was shipped to the United States and I purchased it in October of 2012.
I upgraded the interior and added 4 jump seats in the back (perfect for kids!) and installed a rear cargo liner. The spare tire mount on the hood was fitted with an additional scout seat with seat belt. The front seats have been replaced and I installed a secure Tuffy Box center console. The top is British Army canvas with minor wear and no rips.
The engine is a naturally aspirated, 4 cylinder diesel in excellent run condition. After I purchased it, I installed a new catalytic converter and drive shaft. The undercarriage is in great shape and I don't drive it in wet, snowy or salty conditions. Lights and signals fully functioning. The tires are Michelin's with minimal wear, size 7.5 X 16, with a spare on the hood (please do not inquire about buying the tires separately.)
The vehicle has been housed in my garage since I purchased it. Like all Rovers, you might find "Rory" needs minor improvements but that is par for the course for these heritage vehicles. I will provide logistical assistance for serious buyers who wish to ship the vehicle to another state. Thanks for checking it out and please contact me with additional questions.
