Description for Land Rover Defender 1972

1972 Land Rover Series III DieselThe Guts:This is a right-hand-drive Series III with a naturally aspirated 2. 25 L diesel engine that runs great. It has a four speed manual with overdrive so 70+ MPH on a flat freeway is possible and it doesn't have the Series death shake either (it has a steering stabilizer). My Land Rover shop replaced the rear half shafts in October 2014 and the front diff in November 2014. Four wheel high and low now work like a champ. The rest of the drive train functions as it should. Like 99. 99% of all Land Rovers it does leak a bit of oil/fluid from the various bits underneath but all levels have been monitored and were topped off four weeks ago. The frame is in good condition. Exterior:It was painted red by a previous owner but the years since have added a bit of character with a few scrapes and dings here and there. You can see that some body work was done in a few small spots on the bulkhead. The doors are in good condition and have no rot. Last month I was on a six hour drive (three hours pulling a trailer and it performed great) and the unfortunately the front-left vent cover came off on the freeway. The part is $80 and the pins are around $18 but they wouldn't arrive before the auction ends so I have not ordered them. The roof is removable and could use a good calk/seal. It sits on a set of BFGoodrich All-Terrains that have good life left in them. Interior:The Exmoor seats are a little over a year old and it can seat seven if you’re up for close contact but only has seat belts for two. The rear also has a rubber floor mat that is about an inch thick to reduce noise. The dash is is a little rough but gets the job done. Only the temperature gauge works and actual mileage is unknown. The footwells have been patched but the driver side could use it again. The heater does not work.
