Description for Lincoln Continental 1970
The time has come to bid goodbye to my 1970 Lincoln Continental Mark III.So here it goes.
Exterior: Overall, ody is in good shape. The car is a Wimbleton Whitewith red leather interior and black vinyl top The rear-quarter panels were re-done a few years ago, s needs The rubber drainage hoses replaced(all that usually accumulates water and rots from the inside out).
The paint is not great, nd there are some dings, bit of rust and some peeling however these can be easily remedied. The chrome for the most part is in great condition, ith no "bubbling" or rust whatsoever
Interior: 1970 was the first year the Mark III had genuine oak inserts on the dashboard (as opposed to the faux-veneer in 1969 models) - which, n this particular car, s complemented by red leather both on the dash, ide-door panels and the seats. The leather has held up amazingly well, owever the driver-side seat is a little WornRear "opera" windows don't slide, ut fortunately the motors still work (which is fairly rare in these cars) - it's possible the glass slid out of position or the belt inside is broken. Besides that, ll electrics work, ncluding lights, ower seats, ower side windows, nd climate/heat controls. This car is equipped with an A/C unit however I've never used it.
Mechanical: The engine starts and runs like a champ. The Mark III (like all 1969-1971 Mark III's) is equipped with Lincoln's own big 460 motor, 7.5-litre, 65-horsepower, 00-lb-ft-torque V8, hich comes with a C6 3-speed automatic transmission.Though there is a problem withThe transmission
Now, here are some issues, s expected for a car its age
-rear Brakes do not work. Note that these cars came with Ford's early version of anti-lock-brakes (the Mark III was the first car in North America to get ABS) called "SureTrack" - it does help, owever the system is known to fail and many owners disconnect the unit entirely. I'm not sure if this is the cause for the brakes failing, ut I don't discount it either.
- no rust on the frame
On the plus side, he floors are good, nd the rear quarter panels have both been replaced, o brand-new sheet metal back there, o bondo crap.
his is a complete and stock/accident-free Continental Mark III anyone with a bit of knowledge of these collectable cars, hey'll know there aren't many of them left around, 970 & '71 model-years in particular.
This isn't your backstreet Mustang junker, r some beaten-up smushy Deville. This is a Continental Mark III, he last of the big and powerful V8 Lincolns and a legend in its own right.
If you are seriously interested, lease email me and I can arrange a time for you to come by and take a look. The car is currently stored in a safe and clean garage and can be seen by appointment only.
Thanks
