Description for Lincoln Continental 1979
BUY NOW PRICE HAS BEEN GREATLY REDUCED. SO HAS THE BEST OFFER LEVEL. THIS WILL BE THE LAST AUCTION FOR THIS COLLECTORS SEDAN IN 2016. My travel schedule requires the car to be sold or returned to storage. Beautiful ULTRA LOW mileage 1979 Collectors Series Lincoln Continental for sale! This was the ‘send off’ model for the LAST large American car of its time. Cadillac & Chrysler had downsized their cars in '77. ALL possible Lincoln Continental options came standard, plus special Collector's Series features were added. These cars cost roughly double the price of a base Continental in 1979.All options on this car work, save two: The floor mounted foot control radio scan switch is not working. The front passenger side door lock currently only operates push-pull style. A simple regulator is needed to make the power lock work again. All other locks operate as power locks.
- 12,986 actual miles; speedometer needle at rest blocks the first digit on odometer...see pics
- Originally an estate owned car from the south eastern USA
- Kasman II Special cashmere cloth seat coverings
- Florida title and reg; in storage in Long Island New York

Some of the items are sure to be conversation starters, like the 8-track/CB, but the real thrill of this car is its sheer road presence. It will not be overlooked under any circumstances!
The car also came with an umbrella, but it is not currently present. The owners manual, tool kit, modern ball cap and period Lincoln brochures are all included.
The paint is original to the car and consistent with 1) its low mileage and 2) its 37 years. There has been 'touch up' applied in spots - the small rock chip variety. That said, the paint is in very good to excellent condition. The normal wear 12,000 miles would bring IS present. It. Triple Pin striping and many Ford stampings/markings ( under body, undercarriage & engine) are intact.
The gas tank is new. Mechanic wagered a guess that the car was driven early in its life and then stored long term . A new tank was likely an expensive way to avoid gas sludge problems after being in storage. The new tank is high quality and holds 18 gallons. Original was 24 gallons. Cruising range is still 150/200 miles per tank, depending upon conditions. Should you plan to drive the Lincoln on many long-distance trips (i would hope not), you might consider changing out the fuel tank to original spec. New tanks are readily available and very reasonably priced.
