Description for Lincoln Continental 1959
Relisting due to non-payment of the first auction winner!!I recently purchased this car as part of a package deal to get a '59 Cadillac Fleetwood that I've wanted for many years. I cleaned it up and had a professional mechanic replace some things to get it running and driving, including a rebuilt Treadle Vac, brake hoses, a new ball joint, and a new battery. The previous owner had it for over 14 years as part of an extensive collection of classic cars that he is slowly liquidating, but it was rarely driven and it was kept in dry, heated storage (better than a barn find!). The car still needs a few minor items (driver's window doesn't go up or down and the other windows are slow, side window is cracked, gauge cluster cover is cracked, ignition cylinder bezel missing, etc.) but it is now mechanically functioning reasonably well but it needs the fuel tank drained and fuel lines flushed. With good gas in the carb bowls, it fires right up but then it starts pumping bad gas to the front and stalls. My local mechanic said that it's not a huge job ($350-400) but he doesn't have time to get to it for a few weeks so the auction reserve and buy it now price has been adjusted DOWN by $1000 to account for this, as my wife wants her garage back NOW. This car could be a great foundation for a restoration or just drive it like it is and repair the little things as you go. I believe the mileage (just under 52k) is original. I have had a few Lincoln experts look at it and they say that it could easily be worth $15k-18k once the few remaining bugs are worked out as the unibody structure is solid. Everything seems to be present, including all of the chrome and stainless trim, except for a few of the "Continental" badges that should be on the sides. This car could be a great foundation for a restoration or just drive it like it is and repair the little things as you go. I believe the mileage (just under 52k) is original. Deposit of $1000 via PayPal is required; balance in cash or wire transfer.
