Description for Lincoln 7-Passenger Touring 1937
For the past 20 years I have been the owner of my Grandfather's 1937Willoughby Lincoln 7 Passenger Touring car. There were 7 Willougby 7passenger touring cars made in 1937. Only 3 are surviving. The other two surviving cars were purchased by the State of California and State of New York for VIP parades. This car wasoriginally made for a wealthy banker by the name of Russell Leffingwell. Mr. Leffingwell was the Chairman of theBoard for JP Morgan -https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Russell_Cornell_Leffingwell
Leffingwell used the car for travel to his summer house on LakeGeorge, NY. In the mid-1940s the car broke an axle while transportinghis wife to Lake George and it was promptly sold to Curtis Blake whowas the founder of Friendly's Ice Cream and is an avid car collector. My grandfather acquired thecar from Blake in the late 1950s/early 1960s. He purchased it sightunseen as he knew the car because Leffingwell was a neighbor in OysterBay, Long Island. I purchased the car from my Grandfather's estate in1998.
I had roughly $45,000 worth of work done on the car in2001/2002. It was taken down to metal and repainted original color (black), new wire harness, new leather, new chrome, new roof
The car is body #8349 and has engine #7758. The engine is a 1937 engine. The only modification to the car has been an electric fuel pump.
The car is very original and has extremely good bones.
This is a rare opportunity to acquire this car as there are only 3 remaining and this has not been offered for sale in almost 60 years.
