Description for Lincoln Continental 1965
Up for sale is my Newly Restored, Very clean 1965 Lincoln Continental. I bought it about a year ago in the Bay Area California where it has lived its whole life. It had been sitting under a tarp in a climate controlled garage since 1980 so when I uncovered it it was an absolute time capsule. I bought it from the 2nd owner who bought it in early 1970 along with another black 65. He drove it for a few years back and forth to Dartmouth middle school in San Jose, where he taught history. When I got the car it needed very little to put it back on the road, With such low milage and correct storage, all it needed was a new water pump, new valve cover gaskets and some hot rod black paint on some of the accessories while they were off of the engine for the new water pump install.
I gave it a fresh coat of Paint (3 x DBC Basecoat and 3 x D894 Clear-coat). I also cut and buffed it so you can read a newspaper out of it if you'd like. Last week I threw on a wax to seal the deal. The Underside has been cleaned and painted black. Around the door handles has a few chips from removing them. The paint in the door jams were so nice and original I decided to leave them original along with the underside of the deck lid. The Rubber in the jams is super soft and seals nicely
The Interior. It is so nice I didn't have to do much. The original leather is so soft and flawless. The dash was perfect, no cracks or tears. the gauge cluster looks great, the chrome and paint looks amazing. no pitting. The only way I could show you how nice it is, is in the walk around video I've uploaded to Youtube. Here's the link.

I dropped it down 1.5 inches, where it should have been from the factory. We had dual exhaust installed, it sounds great. The new tires are Pirelli Scorpion Verde's 255/45 r20. I tried a couple different sets of tires to fit the wheel well and these are where I landed. They don't rub at all, and still fill out the entire wheel well. They're wrapped on Brand New Machined 20 inch Borghini B19 Wheels
I do have the original wheels, hubcaps and tires that can come with the car. They're all in great condition. I'll leave that up to the buyer.
Last week I had the transmission pulled and resealed due to a small leak. It shifts beautifully. The engine runs great and stays nice and cool. I did an engine and radiator flush. No leaks and stays nice cool at idol. Also last week I added a new battery and Alternator so there won't be any doubt there. The 430 power plant runs very strong, it does have a small oil leak in the front of the pan.
The gauges have all been back lit with LED cool lights. So they have a nice white backlighting. All the gauges work accept the Amp Gauge which has been disconnected for potential fire hazards (well known in these cars). The clock works, it just sticks at a certain time so it might need a refresh. All the Heater controls work great. If you've dove into one of these dashes you know how hard it is to keep those working when reinstalling the dash. Many vacuum lines to make everything work. I could not get the Interior lights working for whatever reason. The Power seat works all but back and forth. It can go up and down, tilt forward and back but it won't go back and forth.
The Power Windows and vent windows Work great! The vacuum operated door locks Work Great.
The Rare Tilt Wheel (Adjustable Steering Column) works really well. This was an option and I am told its a pretty rare one. Its an Electric - Vacuum assisted adjustable steering column. The steering feels great. I added a new Center/Drag Link along with new lower ball joints
Under the dash on this car looks like it just pulled off the showroom floor. It is so well preserved. The wires are soft, the vacuum lines are very soft. None of the lines or plastics are brittle. It's just a very good example of a preserved Survivor.
The Trunk is all very original. The carpeting has some minor staining from being used but it really isn't that bad. The original Jack and accessories are all there. see pictures. The Chrome on the bumpers us definitely Usable but is not perfect. I show that in the video as well
I also have a partial piece of the Original Build Sheet, as well as the original warranty and owners manual booklet with the original owners name and address. Also I can provide all copies of any receipts I have from the previous owner and what I have put into it.
I really hope this car goes to someone who's always wanted one and will appreciate the history of it and the time I've put in. It was built at my shop, Sierra Auto Restorations, here in Northern California in Sonora, We've been building cars for over 20 years and have an established reputation.
