Description for Lincoln Continental 1946

1946 Lincoln Continental Coupe, One of 265 made.
1946 Lincoln Continental... bone stock, original 292/122 hp Lincoln V-12 cylinder engine, 3-speed transmission with overdrive, original interior, seats, carpet, chrome, fog lights, fender skirts, power windows, etc.

This car runs and drives just fine... it has New Coker wide whites, distributor, fuel pump. The car has had the fuel tank removed and cleaned along with a carburetor rebuild. The power windows work perfect.
The car is very solid and not a rust bucket. It does run, drive and stop. I’ve driven the car on a few 100 mile trips, and around town to local cruises. The car drives, rides and stops just fine.
The car was painted sometime in the late 1960’s. I believe this to be the original Sheldon gray color with maroon leather and tan cloth interior.
This car is NOT PERFECT, it does have some scratches a couple a VERY SMALL dents, and there are a couple of small areas of surface rust where the paint has chipped off, and chips and scratches in the paint.
The interior does have a few mouse holes and wear... the car is a honest 72 year old vehicle. This car is a PERFECT candidate for restoration it’s very straight, it runs, drives and stops, the best part is it isn’t rusty or patched up mess. It is pretty much complete not a project with tons of parts to find, or replace. The chrome and stainless in pretty nice driver quality or better, not rusty, bent or missing. There are a few pits on the grille,
nothing horrible.

A little history on the car... I’ve known the story of this car and it whereabouts for years, for sure since 1963 anyway. Part of the story from what I understand... in the early years sometime between 1946 & 1963 the car was owned by a local Catholic hospital and driven by the Nuns that operated the hospital.
In 1963 the car was bought by a doctor and maintained/restored by him. Doc Glover owned the car until his death and was sold at his auction in 2002. Next the car went to a friend of mine that was a lawyer, he basically done a mechanical restoration on the car spending over $8,000.00 (I have the receipts) and only driving the car a couple of times. The car was then sold at his estate auction in 2016. A friend of mine purchased the car and done another basic mechanical restoration getting the car up and running again. I purchased the car from him in early 2018, I’ve done nothing but enjoy it, driving, and taking it to a few local shows, and actually winning trophies.
These cars were way advanced, and even a little futuristic for 1946. There are all kinds of features to these cars that were not available on other cars of that era. It has push button door entry, hydraulic operated windows, self canceling turn signals, wonder bar radio, in dash clock, fog lights, front and rear bumper wings and guards that were all standard equipment. These cars were also all hand built... the1939-48 Lincoln Continental is recognized as a “Full Classic” by the Classic Car Club of America. These cars were also the last V-12 cars produced and sold by a major U.S. automaker.

I’m more of a Hot Rod person, and I bought another car that is more my style. Unfortunately I have to sell one thing in order to replace it with another... I’ve had this car about a year. I know that I will regret selling this car because replacing it with one as nice and as affordable as this one will most likely be impossible.
This car is a VERY sought after, and VALUABLE car when restored.
