Description for Lincoln Mark Series 1979
Up for sale is a very rare 1979 Lincoln Continental Mark V "Coloma" Ranchero made by Caribou Motors. There were only 12 made total, as I have been told.Vehicle originally came from northern CA. For the last many years it has been stored indoors in Orange County, CA.
Vehicle runs and drives good. Recent oil and filter, new fuel hoses and filter, new rear brake lines, cooling system flushed, new radiator hoses and coolant, and new valve cover gaskets. Engine, transmission, and drive line are solid and smooth. Engine is clean inside, showing good previous service over it's life. No discoloration or sludge. Tires are old, but roll round and are good for local use. Probably could use a good going over, greasing, etc. Will not come with a California smog, although it runs good enough to probably pass. Original catalytic converters are in place. Newer muffler and tailpipe, OEM style.
Interior is serviceable with the exception of the seats, which need new leather. There is some fading and minor issues, but decent for an old car. Dash has a central crack in the pad. Good, clean glass all around. Side windows fit well and are water-tight. Decent dash trim and gauges.
Power seats move back and forth, power windows are functioning, power door locks are functioning, working dash lights and gauges, with exception of the digital miles until empty gauge. Exterior lighting is functioning, including the vacuum headlight doors. All service, warning lights are working. Power antenna will need replaced.
Chassis is very clean and floor pans are solid, as you would expect from a California car. No appreciable leaks from the drive line and clean chassis mechanicals. Roof above the windshield has some substantial rust holes/issues at the front, but does not leak into the interior. Should be a straight forward repair. Most likely due to the top. The rear lower quarter panels need repaired or replaced due to lack of drains when the car was converted. Inside the spare tire access door in the bed is very clean and free of any rust. Comes with perfect rear, lower quarter panel patch panels (see photos). An easy install..
Chrome and trim are decent to good, and look nice.
Outside moldings have some dents and scratches around the wheel wells, but decent.
Vehicle appears to have been originally burgundy and rose, but had been repainted at sometime soft white. The top of the vehicle above the pin stripe has been repainted at some time bright white. Paint in ok for it's age, with minor issues here and there. Usable, but could use a respray, really. Car appears two tone, white over cream. Looks good for a weekend cruiser.
Working tailgate with hidden spare tire well.
This is a very rare custom Lincoln and increasingly desirable. Don't miss out on a chance to own one of these rare Coloma's. After all, there were only 12 made...
**************Needs general straight forward work/ restoration. It would be a considered a drivable project car.**************
Would make a great custom or hot rod!
