Description for Lincoln Continental 1966

Rare 1966 Lincoln Continental Lehmann Peterson limo, barn find and restoration, Lehmann Peterson out of Chicago built to spec some 600 of these Lincoln limos from 1964 thru 1970. There were 159 cars made in 1966 and there are an estimated fewer than 26 survivors. First year for the bigger 462 V8 with more power to hustle all the extra weight around. Cars were delivered new to LP from the Ford factory directly, sawed in half and took 27 days to extend and put back together. To keep the body rigid, .125 armor quality steel was placed in the center and it created an unbreakable 34 inch stretch, weighing 5,939 lbs with an MSRP (depending on options) of around $14,667. You could purchase a new Rolls Royce for the cost of a highly optioned LP limo. This was one of (2) 1966 LP's delivered to Clark & White dealership on historic Automotive Row, Boston (I have the LP build sheet - see pictures). Holes (since repaired) for possible flagstands on the front bumper near the headlights leads me to believe this was a government service vehicle.
I purchased the car from a Ford enthusiast Hugh Lesley in Oxford PA in 2013. It was parked in a barn in the late 1980's when the alternator quit - while the barn was dry, unfortunately the windows were left down and it became home to typical barn creatures. With very basic repairs, it fired up and ran amazingly well. I spent weeks cleaning (seats/carpet out) down to the metal before taking it to the body and upholstery shops for restoration. Luckily the thick original leather was never damaged and the carpeting came out fine. There were no major body rust holes, just minimal surface issues. One spot of the floor (where the built in bar ice cooler was) needed to be repaired. The padded roof was professionally replaced with quality original style replacement material. All chrome was redone by Sandy's in Syracuse. Lastly, the car recieved concours level body repair and paint work (no bondo, metal cut out and replaced) that totaled up to around $35,000. The car has new, proper extra duty limo tires (5) on it and it is easy and fun to drive. A new factory trunk kit has been installed. Car has optional power divider window and I was able to purchase impossible to find NOS Lehmann Peterson fender badges to adorn the sides.
The engine bay is throughly clean but has not been detailed/resprayed to showroom appearance. Mechanically sound - driven at highway plus speeds from Binghamton to Lake George for the Hemmings Concours d'Elegance invite only show in 2018 without any issues. Hemmings is doing a restoration story on the car, but I'm unsure what month it will be out. I haven't tackled the A/C but all the components are there. Radio and power antennae works great. Always attracts alot of attention since they are so few and far between.
Currently used for good weather special events in the Binghamton area - I also have a 1964 Lehmann Peterson limo, so I'm looking to sell this one and move on to another project. Please don't hesitate to contact me (call/text) at 607-725-4882 with questions.
