Description for Lotus 1974
1974 Lotus EliteOn Aug-31-15 at 09:01:06 PDT, eller added the following information:When the Elite was introduced in 1974, t was the most expensive 4 seat car in the world. Colin Chapman's desire to establish Lotus as a major luxury sports brand resulted with a well received strikingly designed upmarket 4 seat coupe.
The Elite is even more significant to the brand's history for being the model with the first ever all Lotus engine - the famous 907, eveloped relaying on the company's hugely successful race record. It's an aluminium 4 valve DHOC 1973cc, eveloping 155 bhp with a race like power curve and sound. The basic chassis and suspension layout was the last ever designed by Colin Chapman, ith his genius signature of lightweight and perfect balance. It is identical to those of the Europa and Elite I, nitially designed as club racers. It is perhaps the closest to a Formula 1 racer layout to have ever been fitted to a 4 seat body.Although a luxurious coupe, he Elite is true to lotus's philosophy of speed through lightweight2,300lb (1,043kg) andaerodynamicefficiency 0.29cd.The Elite presented here is perhaps one of the most original and greatest examples in existence. It has the desired original 5 speed factory option shifting precisely. Engine has great compression. It sound and revs like a race engine and pools the lightweight aerodynamic Elite incredibly fast. The cornering is something to be experienced by any sports car enthusiast. It was painted by a previous owner- the paint has no cracks or fades and still shows a great shine.I just kept it in my collection for a few years in a dry, limate controlled storage so it might need some very minor work due to being stored. It is being sold as is but you are welcome to come and have a look at it in person.
