You will be bidding on a 1970 Lotus Europa Series 2. It is almost identical to one I purchased new in 1970 and drove for 10 years. I purchased this one in 2007 with the idea of restoring it. With the down turn in the economy and my age (just turned 70) this project is no longer realistic. The car has been in my garage since I purchased it and I think with a little TLC it will make a good restoration project.
The previous owner had the engine professionally rebuilt (paperwork and the old parts are available) and it has basically zero miles on it to the best of my knowledge. I have not tried to start it as it was not in running condition when I got it. The engine can be easily turned over by hand. The body is in very good condition for a 45-year old car. It has the usual stress cracks but no major damage. I have made minor fiberglass repairs to front hood around the hinge points. The frame has a few spots of surface rust, ome of which I have treated with rust reformer. The interior was partially disassembled when I received it. I have since removed the dash with the intention of rebuilding it. All wiring that I removed has been labeled and tagged.
The left front brake caliper was seized and both have been removed. I know a source who will rebuild them. I also have a second set from a Triumph Spitfire. The hydraulic hose connection is in a different location but they could probably be made to work as replacements. The cooling fan mounting bracket is broken but will probably work as is.
There are also a few spare parts: tie rod ends (2), ront brake rebuild kit (2), ear brake cylinder (2), oints (1), nd front brake pads (1 set). There is a factory manual and one copy.
