Description for Lotus Other 1969
This is a 1969 Lotus Elan +2 coupe. This car is best described as a parts car or major project. although I do think it's nice enough to be worth saving. The chassis although with lots of surface rust does appear quite solid. The glassfibre body has quite a few cracks and areas that need re-enforcing but doesn't have any major problems and does not appear to have ever received any major damage or repairs. There are no chunks of glassfibre missing. The area around the nose under the grill has some cracks and also the trunk floor where the muffler attaches. It does not come with any bumpers or the front marker lamps or tail lamps. The doors both open and close nicely and fit quite well. The windscreen has a crack right in the middle. All the other glass is good. The interior is quite poor but has most of its parts than can be re-furbished. The wood dash will need to be completely replaced and the cheap vacuum formed center console will need to be replaced. The front seats will need upholstery but are usable as-is. The rear seat is quite nice. The drive-train is fairly complete. The Engine is somewhat disassembled. The bottom end is together and is loosely mounted in the car. The engine does turn freely. There is a piece broken off the front cover where a bolt goes up into the head. It is still very usable though. The head is mostly apart and there are definitely a few parts missing. There are only 5 cam follower buckets (needs 8). There is a timing chain but no tensioner. The gearbox. rive shafts. differential are all present but un-tested. It does shift through all gears. Probably best to assume it will need total mechanical restoration and although mostly complete I'm sure there will be some other things missing. The tyres do hold air (one goes flat after a few hours) and the car can easily be moved around for transport. There are many parts in the trunk including the pedal box. radiator. flywheel. clutch. timing chain. carburetors. starter. alternator and lots more but do figure there will be some parts missing that it will need if you intend to restore it. Please study the pictures carefully. What you see is what you get. I do not have a title for this car. It will be sold with a bill of sale only. Please be sure you understand that it does NOT include a title. I'm also unsure of the cars original VIN as I can't find any VIN plates anywhere on the car. Overall this is a big project but does have great potential. In good condition these are great looking and fantastic driving cars. Please be sure you fully understand what you are bidding on and if you have any questions don't hesitate to contact me. Buyer is responsible for all shipping costs and arrangements.
