Description for Mazda MX-5 Miata 1993

First, ome history on this very special Miata:

The Miata, s you may have already known, as always beena very special car, eing rated consistently in Car&Driver's 10 Best. In the spring of 1993, he Mazda created a very special and unique Miata, he 93LE. This "LE" was a limited editionproduction car, ith only 1500 sequence numbered LEs made for sale in the United States.Mazda took a fully loaded B package Miata (power mirrors, ower-assisted steering, eather-wrapped steering wheel, eadrest speakers, ruise control, ower windows and a power antenna)andadded everything they could think of from a performance and cosmetic standpoint to create the LE.

Color

The most stunning feature of the LE was that is was abrilliant blackcar lined with a deep red interior. The seats were made ofred leather, nd the carpet and dash were also matched with the same color. Thered carpet floor matsalso had the embroidered "Miata" script .

Aluminum Trim

Aluminum trim and panels brought out the "retro look" that is making the trend in today's roadster market. The LE was truly designed ahead of its time.Thespeaker kick panelshad a shape reminiscent of a Harley-Davidson gas tank or a 1957 Corvette door panel. Thetweeterspeaker is also mounted with an aluminum surround.Thedoor sillswere also aluminum with the "Miata" script as well. Externally the LE was dressed with afront air dam, rear lower skirtand arear lip-type spoiler. This rounded out thesubtle, et aggressive sport stance of this car.

Mazda Sensory Sound System

The stereo had a matching aluminum décor as well. This centerpiece faceplate matched the LE theme perfectly and was intended to pay homage to the quite-chromed Cobra cars of the 1960's. Ablack stereo coverwas also included as a theft deterrent or asa dust-protectant. This Mazda Sensory Sound System (everything you every wanted to know about the MSSS can be found here - http://miata.fosketts.net/index.php?title=Main_Page) that was standard on the LE had a Pioneer AM/FM/Cassette/CD combination with a lower "Bodysonic System" that controlled the sound equalization as well as the seatback-mounted bass transducers. These "thumpers" are not subwoofers since they do not make sound, owever the bass that you feel makes a big difference when driving in a convertible. There were also two perforations in the headrest of both thedriver and passenger seats to house a total of four small surround speakers. The shift knob was wrapped in leather byNardi.

Mazda Performance

Although the engine still was a 1.6L four cylinder, he suspension received many upgrades as well. Thespringswere stiffer and coupled with factory-specifiedBilstein shock absorbers. This gave the LE a very "go-cart" feel, houghmany tend to change these out for a more civilized daily driver. Another highlight of the LE was the ultra-light forged aluminumBBS wheels. These 14" wheels weigh only 8.5# each, llowing the driver to benefit from decreased un-sprung weight. On unpredictable surfaces, he viscous-typelimited-slip differentialkeeps torque on the wheel with friction. The ant locking brake system (ABS) kept the tires gripped on the road during hard braking.

Other

The soft top was the standard black vinyl, owever when the top was down, hered leather boot covermade the rear deck of the LE complete. When the weather was colder, ne could install the red vinyltonneau cover.

While EBay's vehicle history report shows 6 owners, he CarFax report shows only 3 owners of which I am the 3rd. If you check the dates on both of the reports, t appears that EBay's report shows an owner change where CarFax shows a re-registration.
